The Western Union man looked at the two asking "Who's Jennifer?"
"She's my girlfriend." said Marty, "And she's alright and..." Marty read it then said to the man "..back in 1966 with the boys. But she's safe."
Doc stopped Marty there and dismissed the man. "That'll be all." said Doc to the man, "You've done your job. Good night."

When the door behind him closed, the Western Union man asked himself Where did I see that kid before?

Doc and Marty read the letter Jennifer wrote in 1966.
Dear Dr. Brown:
I did a terrible thing. I snuck off with the DeLorean
and went back to 1966 to see my parents on their
honeymoon. I know you told me no and I would've
oblidged but saw the keys to the DeLorean, the
jars of poison, the loading instruction for Mr.
Fusion, and instruction tapes on how to set the
time circuits, and couldn't resist. But I didn't count
on Jules and Verne being very sneaky. I tried to get
them to bed, even read a bedtime story only to go to
sleep myself. When I awoke, I thought that they were in their beds
and left to go back in time, taking the remote control
with me. (I didn't want to go into the city with the
DeLorean in 1966 or just leave it somewhere. I wanted
to send it ahead in time so when the concert was over
and when everyone else had left, it would reappear.)
When I got there and set the time circuits to 10:04 pm
that night, I saw that the two boys had stowed away
and when I tried to take them back to the future with
me, they grabbed the remote from me and sent the car
into the future stranding me here with them.Dr. Brown, I've been acting foolishly the last two weeks
ever since I heard about you and Marty traveling through
time and that trip to 1964 to keep Biff from poisoning Mr.
McFly during the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan
Show. All this need to see my parents on their honeymoon
and wanting to see the Beatles myself in person has blinded
me of my resposibility to not only my own schoolwork but
to your two boys as well. Please come and pick them up between 10:30 and 11:00 am
outside the Western Union office on 1040 Polk Street.Sincerely
Jennifer Parker
August 29, 1966
When they were finished reading, the computer beeped.
"It's ready." said Doc.
Sitting down Doc, Clara and Marty studied the monitor. As they did Marty produced his cellular phone and called the Parker residence. To his gratification he got Mr. Parker. However, the voice on the other end was very unpleasant.
"Listen Marty", said Mr. Parker, "I don't know what you did to my kid but ever since that trip to the lake, she's been behaving very strangely. This afternoon was the worst."
"How?" asked Marty.
"She was late coming back from lunch at school." said Mr. Parker, "She spent a few extra minutes in the library studying up on the Beatles."
Beatles? asked Marty to himself.
"Then after school she hit Needles over the head with a book. I want you to stay away from her."
"Wait", said Marty, "where did you get this?"
"Mr. Strickland." said Mr. Parker. "Now stay away from my daughter."
Then the phone hung up. Marty put the cellular phone away and sat there stunned.
"Marty." asked Doc, "What is it?"
"That was Jennifer's old man." said Marty, "He's mad at me for giving her wild ideas. He says she's been acting strangely ever since we went to the lake." Then he looked at Doc and said "But we didn't go to the lake. We never had the chance. We were time traveling." Then Marty stopped for a minute. Then he said "Jen's dad said it started after our supposed trip to the lake." Clara's face was distressed at this. Marty went on. "We went into the future with Jennifer." he said "After we came back, we left Jennifer to go back to 1955 to get that book from Biff, then 1885, then back here." Doc and Clara were now both looking at Marty as he said "Then 1964, and the Beatles. And I told her about...them" Marty's heart sank. "It's all my fault." he said, "If I didn't tell her about the Beatles, she wouldn't been acting this way."
Doc comforted him saying "It's all in the past now."
"Or", said Marty, "as far a Jennifer and the boys are now concerned, the future."
"Whatever." said Doc, "All this demonstrates on what happens when someone other than the two of us finds out the very existence of time travel and why we had to convince Jennifer that her trip to the future was just a dream." Doc pointed to the screen. "Look what happens after she discovers that I forgot the key and picks up the jars of poison and the instructions for loading the fusion generator." he said.
Marty looked.
It showed Jennifer studying the tapes on the VCR. Then her trying to get the boys to sleep by reading a book only to go to sleep by herself. Then the boys getting out of bed and trying unsuccessfully to wake her. Then stuffing the covers with extra pillows. Then, Jennifer waking up and convincing herself that the boys have gone to sleep and leaving. Then her picking up the box and going into the bathroom. Then the screen switched to Jules and Verne going out into the lab and picking up the sleep inducer and using it on Einstein.
"Damn." said Doc.
"What?" asked Marty, "What is it?"
"Those kid." said Doc, "How many times I told them not to use it on Einstein? He doesn't like that."
"Doc." said Marty.
"Alright." said Doc, "Let's continue."
They did. Jennifer emerged from the bathroom wearing a different outfit, went out to the lab, loaded the fusion generator, Jules and Verne came out of hiding and snuck into the DeLorean, and Jennifer got in after she picked up the remote control. Doc froze the screen to show Marty what time and place she set the time circuits.
"August 29, 1966. San Francisco, California." said Marty, "Doc, isn't that the remote she used."
"It is." said Doc, "The note said that she intended to send the car 14 hours into the future. Despite her crazy behavior of late, that was a smart move."
"In what way, Doc?" asked Marty.
"It's better than hiding the car." said Doc, "and you don't want to drive the DeLorean into downtown 1966 San Francisco in the daylight."
"Okay Doc." said Marty, "I get the picture. What do we do?"
"We've got the limousine." said Doc, "Since the train is too big, we'll use the limousine and go back to 1966."
"Doc." said Marty, "Don't you think that it would've been more easier to go back to October 26 and keep Jennifer from seeing the time machine."
"We can't." said Doc. "If we go back to October 26 to stop Jennifer, our other selves wouldn't been forced to take her to the future with us, I wouldn't have sleep induced her, left her behind only to have her picked up by the police, had to follow her to your future home, got out of the DeLorean long enough for Old Biff to steal it and go back into time and change the future, and if Old Biff doesn't change the future, we just go straight home instead of chasing him down and I don't get hit by lightening and wind up 1885, and if I don't go back to 1885..." Doc turned to look at Clara and said "...there would've been no me to save Clara from going into the ravine and you don't go back there to get me and learn about Seamus McFly's brother Marty's sorry incident. And if you don't learn about that, you try to prove to Needles that you're a chicken and get into that accident that breaks your hand and end your musical carreer. And..." Doc went to Jennifer's clothes and extracted that blank CUSCO sheet that she still had and wrote on it saying "...in the future, this happens to you!"
Marty read what it what Doc wrote.
It said "YOU'RE FIRED!".
"No Marty", said Doc, "the damage to Jennifer is done. The only thing we could do is minimize it. Go back to 1966 and get Jennifer and the kids, then go on to 10:04 pm and retrieve the DeLorean, and take them all back to the future. Sleep induce her if necessary. End of discussion."
Marty looked at Doc, then he looked at Clara, then Doc again and said "You're the Doc, Doc."
Doc reached into the limousine and gave Marty a suit.
"Change into these and come back." he said.
"Check." said Marty, and he went off to the bathroom.
"Emmett", said Clara, "I'm coming with you."
"No", said Doc, "stay here. As far as you would be concerned, only a few minutes would've passed."
++++++
When Marty came out, Doc had the fusion generator in the limousine already loaded. Doc looked at Marty. He was dressed up for royalty.
"Great", said Doc, donning his chauffer's hat, "Now we could go back in style."
"I feel like a fool." said Marty.
Doc went over to kiss his wife, as he did, Marty produced his jeans, jacket, shirt, and Nike shoes from his coat and hid them under the seat.
After Doc finished kissing Clara, he said "Com'on Einy." and the dog obeyed.
Sitting in the car next to Marty, he petted the dog saying "Hey Einy, how's it doing boy?"
Doc set the circuits for August 29, 1966 and the destination location: San Francisco.
"Buckle up, Marty." he said.
Marty did.
Then he noticed a small miniature map of San Francisco and asked "Doc what is that next to the circuits?"
"All your questions will be answered soon." said Doc as he pushed a button on the dashboard and the roof of the lab opened up.
Pushing another button the car lifted up off the ground, through the opening and into the night.

In the lab, Clara watched as the ceiling closed.
As she could hear the familiar sonic booms, she said "Come back with my darlings, Emmett."
