AFTER a trip to Macy's to buy the boys new clothes, Jennifer next took them to the Western Union office on Polk Street. In there she sat at a table and took out a piece of paper from her purse and wrote a note. When she was done, she put it into a large Manila envelope that she addressed to Doc and also wrote on it "Do not deliver until November 13, 1985. 11:00 pm". Then she stood in line waiting her turn. She could see a couple with a newborn baby in a carriage.
"Hi there." said Jennifer, "Are you waiting in line for something."
"Yes." said one of the parents, "We've got to send a message back to Malaysia."
"That's where our own Claudia was born last month." said the other parent.
"Your baby's a girl'" said Jennifer.
The parents nodded affirmatively.
Jennifer looked down at the baby only to see Verne say "Boo!"
"Verne!" said Jennifer, "Behave."
The baby began to cry. The mother picked up the baby to comfort her.
"There there" she said. "I'm sorry." said Jennifer, "Mrs. uh..."
"Wells." said the mother. "Well Mr. and Mrs. Wells"
"I was planning a trip here and some couple threw these boys at me..." said Jennifer. Then said to herself And you won't believe a word I would say if I told you everything.
When Doc and Clara finally arrived home, they found tapes on the coffee table, the ceiling to the lab opened and the DeLorean, the keys, and the one of the remote controls to one of the time machines gone. And no Jennifer. Doc went into the living room and turned on the television set. As the screen lit up it showed a rerun of Taxi. This was the episode where Jim Ignatowski (played by Doc's look-a-like Christopher Lloyd) was doing that drivers exam and was asking his fellow cabbies what the yellow light meant. (They sneak him the answer but Jim keeps asking them, slowing down each time.) Doc fed the VCR and turned it on.
There it was.
The first temporal experiment with Einstein becoming the first time traveler. He turned it off. Then Clara came in. Her faced showed distress.
"Emmett." she said, "the boys are gone too."
Doc looked at the television the looked at Clara saying "Great Scott."
"That's not all." said Clara, "Look what I found in the bathroom."
She showed him Jennifer's clothing and the box containing Mrs. Parker's "mod" outfit which was now empty
"Great Scott." said Doc again, "I was afraid of this. Jennifer has gone back in time."
"What about the boys?" asked Clara, "Did they go back in time too?"
"Only the tape from the security cameras will tell us." assured Doc. Before moving in, Doc had security cameras installed. The tapes from them would tell him the story of what actually happened. "Clara", said Doc, "The McFlys should be home by now. Call Marty, I'm going to need his help."
Clara immediately dialed the McFly house as Doc extracted the tapes from the cameras around the house and took them to his lab.

When Marty and his family arrived at home when the phone rang. Linda picked up the phone and talked into it.
Then said "Marty, it's for you."
Taking the receiver from his sister he said "Yo."
But the voice on the other end of the line was Clara's. "Can you wait a minute." she asked.
Moments later another voice came on the line. It was Doc's.
"Marty!" he said, "Thank God you're home. Listen, I need your help."
"Now wait minute, Doc." said Marty, "I just got home. I'm tired. I've gotta go to bed."
"Marty!" said Doc, "It's Jennifer! Something's happened to her. Something terrible."
"Jennifer?" exclaimed Marty, "Is she there?"
"Not now." said Doc, "She's vanished. And so are the boys and the DeLorean."
"Okay, Doc." said Marty, "Keep your pants on. I'm on my way."
He hung up and left.

Back at the Browns, Doc was in his lab. He had just fed the tapes into his computer when he looked up at the time. There was no word whether or not Marty had shown.
Then the doorbell rang.
Moments later Marty entered the lab.
"You're late!" said Doc, "Don't you have any concept of time?"
"I had to change." said Marty, "Do you think I'm going to come over here dressed like I'm still in mourning?"
"Never mind that now Marty, never mind that." said Doc, "We've got more trouble."
"You don't have to tell me." said Marty, "What happened?"
"I left Jennifer here with the two boys to go with Clara to see a movie." said Doc.
"Oh yeah?" asked Marty "Which movie was that?"
"That doesn't matter now", said Doc, "When we got there, I realized that I forgot the keys to the DeLorean and we had to come back home. When we did, Jennifer, our two boys, and the DeLorean were gone. But there were tapes of our first time travel experiment on the coffee table."
"Holy geez." exclaimed Marty.
"That's not all." said Doc, "Clara found these in the bathroom."
He showed Marty some clothing and an empty box.
"Those are Jennifer's clothes." exclaimed Marty, "But what the hell was in that box?"
"It belongs to Jennifer's mother." explained Doc, "It's her 'mod' outfit from the '60's."
"Oh shit!"
"I also found this." said Doc.
He showed Marty a poster.
"That's a poster of one of the Beatles' concert." said Marty, "The last one they performed. It was at Candlestick Park. And...oh no! Jennifer's parents attended that concert."
"I took the tapes from our security cameras and fed it into the computer." Doc continued indicating to the computer he was talking about, "They will tell us what really happened."
Marty looked at it and read the brand.
"IBM Aptiva?" he asked, "Never heard of that. Where'd you get it?"
"About eleven years from now." said Doc. Marty looked at Doc with peculiarity.
Then said "Oh!"
Doc activated the screen and it read "Windows 98".
"Doc", said Marty, "Where'd you..."
"Never mind that now", said Doc, "Never mind that."
Then the door bell rang. Clara left the lab. Moments later she came back.
"Emmett." she said, "There's a man at the door asking for you."
"Tell him I'm busy." said Doc.
"Emmett." she said, "He says that it's important."
"Alright." said Doc as he, Clara and Marty left the lab and went to the front door. Doc greeted the man who said "Doctor Brown."
"Yes?" said Doc.
"Is your name Doctor Emmett Brown?" asked the man.
"It is." said Doc.
Then the man reached into his coat pocket saying "I've got something for you!"
Doc, Clara and Marty fell back a few paces in terror. But what the man pulled out was not a gun but a large Manila envelope and handed it to Doc.
"For me?" asked Doc, "That's impossible! Nobody else knows that I just moved here with my wife. Only me, my wife, and this young man knows that we live here. Who are you?"
"Western Union Man" said the man, "Actually, we've had this in our offices in San Francisco for the past 19 years."
"19 years?" exclaimed Doc. "19 years", said the man, "Two months and fifteen days to be exact. And it was to be delivered to a man answering to the name of Doctor Emmett L. Brown at this exact address, at this exact moment on November 13, 1985. There was even a bet on whether or not this Dr. Brown would live here on this date. Looks like I lost." The man laughed, then gave Doc a clipboard saying "Sign here on line six." Obtaining a pen from the man, Doc signed it. Then gave it back to the man saying "There you go."
Doc opened the envelope and produced a piece of paper from it.
Doc looked at it in amazement saying "Great Scott!"
"Doc", said Marty, "What is it?" Doc didn't answer but gave Marty the letter. Marty looked what was written and said "It's from Jennifer!"
Was it a cry for help?
