Chapter 10
DOC and Marty stepped in to restrain Calpurnia. "No!" whispered Doc to her, "That's not Brutus, Calpunia. That's Biff." "Biff?" exclaimed Calpurnia, "I though that old man was..." "That is Biff." said Doc, "But so is that young man out there." "He is?" asked Calpurnia. "Yes." said Doc, "Aren't you forgetting, you've been traveling through time. This is Hill Valley sixty years earlier. Every senior citizen you saw in the future that you left are a lot younger here." Meanwhile, Lorraine tooked Marty by the side. "Marty." asked Lorraine, "Who was your aunt calling Brutus?" "Bi--. Well, you see my aunt's eccentric." said Marty. "Oh, I see." said Lorraine, "But I swore I heard almost say 'Biff'." "That was a mistake." said Marty. "That's alright." said Lorraine, "I've guess you heard that someone named 'Brutus' murdered Julius Caesar two thousand years ago." Marty turned to look at Calpurnia before looking back at Lorraine. "Well, Biff deserves to have a name like that." said Lorraine, "After all, he's a creep. And he wants me, and he'll kill to have me." "He does?" asked Marty as he felt a little fear inside him. "Yes." said Lorraine, "But I wouldn't marry him even if he had a million dollars." "That's good, Lorraine." said Marty. "Excuse us, Lorraine." said Doc, "We and our nephew have to go now." "Okay." said Lorraine, "See you tonight, Marty." "Okay, Lorraine." said Marty, "Oh Lorraine, do me a favor when you're at the dance with me tonight." "Anything, Marty." said Lorraine. "Don't mention anything about seeing me to me tonight." said Marty. "Okay, Marty." said Lorraine, "But why?" "Just don't." said Marty. "Okay." said Lorraine, "Anything you say." "Okay." said Marty, "See you tonight." After that, Doc, Marty and Calpurnia left.

Biff had followed Terry into the auto repair shop when the three time travelers left Ruth's. He was incensed about having to pay three hundred dollars for having his car cleaned out and repaired. Marty explained to Calpurnia that a couple days earlier, Biff was chasing him around in his car and crashed into a manure truck. Hiding behind a car, the three observe the other Marty sneaking into Biff's car. Then, in the distance, there was Old Biff with the bag in which the Almanac and the will were in, hiding behind a tree. Then, young Biff came out of the shop with five cans of Valvoline heading straight towards his car with Terry following behind. They were still angerly yacking away. Biff slammed the cans into the back of the car where the other Marty was hiding in. Marty still had painful memories of that, hiding behind the covers and getting plunked at with those oil cans. Then, Terry took his tow truck and left. Biff was brushing away the windshield wiper when Lorraine came out of Ruth's with her friend Babs. "Oh Lorraine." she said,"That's real lovely." "I can't wait to wear it tonight." said Lorraine. They were examining the contents of the box that Lorraine's prom dress was in. While those two were talking, Biff approached them saying "Well lookie what we got here." Examining the box he went onto to say "Pretty nice dress, Lorraine. Although, you'd look better wearing nothing at all." "Biff." said Lorraine as she and Babs were walking away from him, "Why don't take a long walk over a short pier?" "Hey listen, Lorraine." said Biff, "There's that dance at school tonight. Right now, my car all fixed. I'd figured that I'd cut you a break and give you the honor of going with the best-looking guy in school." "Well, I'm busy tonight, Biff." said Lorraine. "Doing what?" asked Biff. "Washing my hair." said Lorraine. Biff laughed. "That's as funny as a screen door on a battleship." Doc who overheard that whispered as if to talk to Biff, "That's 'A screen door on a submarine' you idiot." Turning their attention away from Biff and Lorraine, the three saw Old Biff sneak into the car with the bag. Doc produced some binoculars to watch. "Marty." he said handing them to him, "Look through these." Marty did. He could see Old Biff pull out the Almanac. Then, examining the content for something else he spotted the will. Extracting that he examined it and smile. Then, he thumbed through the book and put the will in there using it as a bookmark. "Geez." said Marty, "He's using the will as a bookmark." Doc grabbed them from Marty and looked. "Great Scott!" he said. Handing them back to Marty, he handed it to Calpurnia to use. Since she was from the past, she never seen binoculars before and had trouble looking through them. Marty tried to teach her how but had problems. "No ma'am." he said,"that's not how...It's like...no, not quite...it's oh geez." All this was interrupted when they overheard Biff yelling at the fleeing Lorraine and Babs "Yes you will, Lorraine. It's ment to be. It's you and me, Lorraine. Someday you'll marry me. Someday you'll be my wife." After the two girls disappeared down the street, Biff turned back to return to his car only to see his future self. "You always had your way with women, Biff." he said. "Get the hell outta my car, old man." said young Biff. "Do you want to marry that girl, Biff?" asked Old Biff, "I can help make it happened." "Oh yeah." said young Biff, "And who are you? Miss Lonely Hearts?" "Just get in the car, butthead." said Old Biff. "Who are you calling 'buthead', butthead?" demanded young Biff as his future self started the car. "How did you know how to do that?" asked young Biff, "Nobody could start this car but me." "Just get into the car, Tannen." said Old Biff, "Today's your lucky day." Young Biff did and the car sped off. Doc tapped Marty and Calpurnia on the shoulder saying "Okay. Like Old Biff said, the will is in the Almanac. Let's go to young Biff's house right now." Carefully and stealthfully the trio went back to the alley where the invisible DeLorean was waiting. Getting in, Doc set the time circuits for 3:45 p.m. Using the map locator, he had the arrow pointing at Maple Street. Lifting the car off the ground, Doc kicked it up to 88 miles per hour.
Saturday, November 12, 1955
Hill Valley, California
3:45 p.m.
The DeLorean reappeared over Biff's house as his car pulled into the garage. Setting the car down on the street in front of the house, Doc said "We'll wait till Old Biff leaves. Then, we'll get out, sneak up on young Biff, sleep induce him and get the will out of there. But, leave the Almanac behind for the other Marty to pick it up later on this evening." "Other Marty?" asked Marty. "Yes." said Doc, "And another thing Marty, your other self will be locked in the garage until tonight, so when you get out, avoid the front of that garage so your other self doesn't see you." "Check, Doc." said Marty. "Heston." asked Calpurnia, "That girl Lorraine called you Calvin Klein. But that's not really your name is it?" "No." said Marty, "It's Marty." "That's what she also called you." said Calpurnia, "Do you know her?" "Yes I do." said Marty, "She's my mother." Calpurnia reeled back on her seat in shock. "Your mother?" she exclaimed. "It's a long story." said Marty. Calpurnia said "She looks very young to be your...of course, Emmettus said you were here in this time period before that other you showed up." "That's right." said Marty, "And as of right now, I haven't even been born yet. And won't be for the next thirteen years." "And she said that she's going to the dance with you?" asked Calpurnia. "Yeah." said Marty, "Sounds heavy, doesn't it." Calpurnia sat back. "Oedipus." she said. "Who?" asked Marty. "Oedipus Rex." said Calpurnia. Doc heard and said "Of course." "What, Doc?" asked Marty. "You never heard of that play?" asked Doc, "It's a Greek tragedy where a man unknowingly murders his father and marries his mother." "Oh shit!" said Marty, "Here, I merely interfered with their first meeting and it was up to me to get those two together on that dance floor." Then, Doc told both of them "The two Biffs are coming." Looking out the window, the two Biffs were coming down the driveway. "In 1993, Miami will have a team called the Florida Marlins." said Old Biff, "In 1997 they'll win the World Series." Young Biff stood there and looked at his older self saying "Yeah, sure." "Well, it's gonna happen." said Old Biff. The two continued their way to the house as young Biff said "I don't believe that." The three examined the back pocket of young Biff's pants. There it was, the Sports Almanac and inside it was the will. They watched the two Biffs go up to the door until the young Biff went in and the old Biff turn to leave. After Old Biff went up the street and around the corner, Doc said, picking up the inducer, "Okay everyone. It's showtime." The trio got out and went up to the gate. It was barely opened when out of nowhere was this doberman pinscher charging after them. Immediately, Doc closed the gate and the three retreated. "This is more difficult than I anticipated." said Doc. Then, Calpurnia spoke up. "Let me try." she said. "Calpurnia." said Doc, "That's doberman pinscher. He'll bite your hand off." Ignoring Doc, Calpurnia opened the door and petted it. "Now, now." she said, "We want to be your friend." The dog mellowed. "I'll be damned." said Marty. Holding the dog in her arms to cuddle it, she turned to Doc and Marty saying "It's alright now." Doc and Marty proceeded to the gate and entered it. Calpurnia put down the dog and followed them. Turning to her, Doc asked "Where did you learn how to handle dogs like that?" "One summer when I was a little girl," said Calpurnia, "I spent time on my uncle's dog ranch." "Good ol' uncle of yours." said Marty, "Hey Doc, are you sure we should send her back to Ancient Rome? I mean she'd would make an excellant baby sitter for Einstein." "Marty." said Doc, "You know that's impossible. She doesn't belong in our time." Marty shrugged. "You're the doc, Doc." he said. "Okay, you two." said Doc, "This is where Biff's bedroom is." "How do you know that?" asked Marty. "Just peek in the window." The two did. It was Biff. He was lying on top of his bed with the almanac. The bedroom itself looked like a hurricane had struck it. There was a pile for everything and everything in a pile. "Okay." said Doc, "We'll have to create a diversion to get Biff to put down the Almanac for us to get in there. Calpurnia, go to the front door and ring the bell." Calpurnia did. In the meantime, Doc examined the window sill for a little gap where they could reach in and open it. Then, Callpurnia came back saying "I can't find the bell." "Great Scott." said Doc, "Just...never mind that, never mind that. Just knock." "Alright." said Calpurnia. She went back to the door and knocked. Doc and Marty stole a peek in the bedroom. Craning his head back to Calpurnia his whispered "Psst! Knock louder." She did. Doc and Marty stole another peek into the bedroom. Biff stayed there. But, a sound of a door opening was there. And a voice of a cranky old lady was heard. "Listen lady." said the voice, "I told you once, I'll tell you a thousand times. I don't want you Jehovah's Witnesses coming to my door anymore." Doc and Marty craned their necks again. It was indeed a cranky old lady pointing a rifle at Calpurnia. "Great Scott!" exclaimed Doc. Immediately, he and Marty rushed at her, pushing her out of the way of the rifle as it discharged a bullet. Then, approaching footsteps were heard from inside the house. "Biff." exclaimed Doc, "Let's go you two." Pulling their hats in front of their faces to keep Biff from seeing them, they took Calpurnia by the arm and headed for the gate. That's when the doberman sprung into action and started charging after them. "Sick 'em, Brutus." Calpurnia stopped in her tracks. "Brutus?" she exclaimed. Marty, upon hearing this said "Oh geez." They struggled to get Calpurnia past the gate and into the invisible DeLorean before the dog could catch up. With the door closed, the dog stood there barking as if it could see the trio and barked. Then, Biff came out of the house and asked the old lady "What the hell's going on, Grandma?" "I just chased off a Jehovah's Witness." said the old woman. "What Jehovah's Witness?" asked Biff. "Never mind, Biff." said the grandmother, "She's gone." Then, Biff noticed the dog barking into open air. "Brutus." said Biff, "Get the hell back in the yard." Reluctantly, the dog did. "Crazy mutt." said Biff. Meanwhile, Doc had gotten the DeLorean off the ground and into the air. "Well, that scratches that plan." he said. "What do we do, Doc?" asked Marty. Doc sat there at the wheel. Then, he said "I've got a plan." "And that is..." said Marty. "I don't think it's a good idea, Marty." said Doc, "But I don't see any alternative." "What is the plan, Doc?" asked Marty. "I'll tell you when I'll tell you." said Doc, "Meanwhile, we'll have to check into a hotel. We're going to spend the night here in 1955." "What about the DeLorean?" asked Marty, "We can't keep it invisble indefinitely." "We'll send it ahead in time." said Doc, "Then, rent a car. After which, I'll tell you what the plan is." "You're the doc, Doc." said Marty. After that, Doc turned the DeLorean and headed to Pine City.
