The long answer:

1. Cold hands hurt: Cold hands mean the blood circulation is restricted. Your blood may not deliver sufficent oxygen and vital nutrients to the smallest blood arteries surrounding the median nerve. Repeatedly using your cold hands over a long period of time may not be healthy.

   There is no serious research on the effects of the use of the WarmKeyBoard (There has been no warm keyboard until now.) We have known for a long time that workers in cold environments are more likely to sustain hand injury. There is no doubt that warmth is good for arthritis and carpal tunnel suffers. Cold triggers the painful Raynaud's Syndrome, spasms of the blood vessels in the hand, sharp contracting of the arterioles and restricting blood flow to extremities. My personal experimentation with heated keyboards over the last ten years certainly has convinced me that they are beneficial to my hands.

2. Keyboards tend to make your hands cold:
   Regular keyboards stay at room temperature, usually 10 to 20 degrees F colder than normal hand temperatures. The difference is even greater in some really cold offices. The keyboard will drain the heat from the finger tips continuously. Prolonged use will lead to cold hands. A warm keyboard will transmit heat to your finger tips and keep your hands warm and comfortable.
