Raise the Roof!
FIREHOUSE OPEN HOUSE 05

THE GHOSTBUSTERS FIREHOUSE IS LEAKING! I am talking about the U.S. and Los Angeles officially Designated Historic Site, Fire Station 23 (or Old 23s’ as it is affectionately known), located at 225 E. 5th St. in Downtown Los Angeles. The building has been zoned Artist Loft since the early 70s and has been a film location in many films commercials movies etc. including the headquarters in Ghostbusters.

The non-profit Corporation for History, Art and Culture (CHAC) was recently formed with the purpose to raise funds to preserve, restore and maintain this remarkable old building for the benefit of the Downtown community and the general public. To learn more about CHACs’ Old 23s’ Cultural Center Project and to view pictures of the building please visit our links below.

Just in time for Halloween I am inviting everyone who is interested in touring the Ghostbusters Firehouse to sign up, take a guided tour and contribute to the Raise the Roof Fund to save this Historic site from expensive water damage and replace the old roof now.

My name is Daniel Taylor. I have been the Caretaker of Old 23s’ for over 14 years and I will act as your tour guide on Saturday October 30 from 10am to 5pm to help raise money for this project. There will be exhibits by local Artists and music all day long.

For anyone interested in taking a tour that day please email C.H.A.C. @ mailto:chac.la@att.net and put RSVP in the Subject. We will start at 10 am and will do one tour an hour the last tour at 5pm. If you prefer to take the tour at a certain time please indicate this in your email.

The C.H.A.C. is beginning to work with a growing number of people and organizations in the immediate neighborhood and the Downtown area. People in Los Angeles and throughout the world, who have visited and worked in Old 23s’, believe that its potential for public benefit is great. We believe that this building, properly maintained for use by the public can be a catalyst for the positive development of our culturally diverse community.

Please come and see for yourself.

Daniel
