Some of the

Ship's Passenger Lists

To The Port Of New York In 1866

These are my own personal efforts at transcribing some of the ship's passenger lists of arrivals to New York in 1866. I am transcribing from microfilms from the NARA (National Archives & Records Administration). If you are interested in obtaining your own microfilms or paper copies from the microfilms directly from NARA, please click on "Links" below and you will find a link to their web site. I've also added some links to passenger list databases or other helpful sites.

England - Ships from England and Ireland to New York

Germany - Ships from Germany to New York

Other - Ships from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, Cuba, Haiti, Panama, Puerto Rico and West Indies to New York

Help

Many of these passenger lists are in handwriting that is very difficult to read. What looks like an "n" could be "ie" or "u" or even an "s", but I've tried my best to transcribe what I see. Some lists are very faded and it's difficult to see all parts of letters. Some lists were damaged, folded or taped before filming. There are also many obvious spelling errors, which I've typed up just as they appear on the list.

Please check back again as I will be updating these pages as I transcribe ships. If you find one of your ancestors on these pages and have a question or would like to have me place a comment or link to a web site, please email me at the address below.
