Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong) FDM SLA Research, Training and University / Industry collaboration on a wide range of Rapid Product Development processes.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) One of the largest research groups in the world in the field of RP, working on several technologies including: selective laser sintering, stereolithography and laminated object manufacturing. Products developed are sold through Wuhan Benha Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd. (in Chinese and English)

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) (India) FDM See also the CAD Laboratory web page for a description of RP related activities

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (India) FDM See also this description of their RP activities. The Institute has worked to improve LOM de-cubing among other projects.

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (India) SLS The research group in the mechanical engineering department has concentrated on improvement of accuracy, part strength and quality in selective laser sintering. The rapid prototyping lab's facilities are also occasionally used for industry studies.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (India) FDM SGC Scanning Operates as a service bureau and has the following additional facilities available: various solid modelers, MCP silcone vacuum casting and low melting alloy systems, TAFA metal arc spray gun, CAM software programs, robotic FARO arm for RE, Surfacer and AnthroCAM for generation of Surface models.

Kwangju Institute of Science and Technology (Korea)

Kyungpook National University (KNU) (Korea) SLS (in Korean)

Osaka University (Japan) Research areas include development of 3D photonic crystals by stereolithography and freeform fabrication of intermetallics by reactive rapid prototyping. Prof. Osakada’s Laboratory is working on selective laser melting.

PSG College of Technology (India) FDM SLS Established in 1951, the college is an autonomous technological institution in South India. It offers several undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, applied science , technology and management. TIFAC- CORE in Product Design Collaborative Product Commerce offers rapid prototyping, sand casting tooling, vacuum casting, scanning (mechanical & laser), free-form modelling, CAD/CAM services. Facilities include DTM Sinterstation plus, Stratasys MAXUM, MK1 Vacuum Casting Machine, Renishaw Cyclone and world's best CAD/CAM & VPDM softwares.

Tsinghua University (China) Developing multi-process RP systems offering change-over ability among fused deposition modeling (FDM), selective laser sintering (SLS) and stereolithography systems. Products from the research are being sold by Beijing Yinhua, a joint venture with the University's Enterprise Group. Recent work also includes low-temperature deposition manufacturing (LDM) for materials such as tricalcium phosphate and polylactic acid, for TE scaffolding applications.

University of Hong Kong (China) Research in selective laser sintering.

University of Tokyo (Japan) The Nakagawa Laboratory does work in metal fiber composites, precision machining of ceramics, molding of powders and die manufacture. See also the Nakajima Laboratory web page for a description of their work in RP. The university is also pursuing work on refrigerative stereolithography. (Some info is in Japanese.) More information about refrierative stereolithography can be found on the Design Engineering Laboratory pages.

Vellore Institute of Technology-Technology Business Incubator [VITTBI] (India) FDM We provide rapid prototyping and product development services to industry using our Stratasys Dimension FDM system. We can accommodate a build volume of 203 x 203 x 305 mm, and part wall thickness as low as 0.60 mm. Sturdy ABS plastic material is used in layers of 0.245mm or 0.33mm for fine resolution. VITTBI is a great place to build technology!
