University of Manchester (UK) The Laser Processing Research Centre's rapid manufacturing research is primarily directed towards coaxial laser direct metal deposition (LDMD). Areas of research include Nickel superalloy deposition and crack repair techniques. Novel combined wire-powder deposition processes for RP have been developed. The Centre currently collaborates with over 20 industrial partners in all fields of laser processing. Contact Information to learn more about this research: Dr. Andrew Pinkerton, Laser Processing Research Centre, School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, University of Manchester, PO Box 88, Sackville Street, Manchester M60 1QD UK; +44(0)161 306 3806; FX +44(0)161 306 3803; andrew.pinkerton@manchester.ac.uk

University of Nancy (France) University / Industry collaboration. Research in LOM, SLS and Stratoconception processes.

University of Navarra / Tecnun (Spain) J-P Scanning In addition to an Objet Eden RP system, also has reverse engineering and vacuum casting capabilities.

University of Northumbria (UK) Centre for Rapid Product Development. University / Industry collaboration.

University of Paderborn (Germany) The Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC) located at the University was founded in 2008 by Boeing, EOS Electro Optical Systems, Evonik Industries, MTT Technologies Group and others to further the advancement of manufacturing using additive technologies.

University of Paisley (Scotland, UK) MJM The Product Design Centre provides an array of design-related services for industry and academia, including rapid prototyping.

University of Patras (Greece) SLA FDM LOM Research on rapid tooling, new materials and modeling of RP processes. Owns 3 types RP machines (SLA, LOM and FDM), and works cooperatively with several industries.

University of Strathclyde (Scotland) 3DP FDM The Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management hosts the only integrated physical, virtual and reverse engineering prototyping facility in the UK.

University of Sunderland (UK)

University of Sussex (UK) Research on micro-stereolithography and materials. The BioMedical Modelling Unit is an application centre of CAD, FEA and RP in medicine. The potential aim is the integration of medical imaging with manufacturing technologies within a clinical environment. Collaboration with other industrial, clinical or research institutions is a main focus for the identification and implementation of new applications.

University of Stuttgart (Germany) Research is concentrated on methods and tools for organization of development teams, distributed product development, the effective use of virtual and physical prototypes, and integration of conventional and unconventional manufacturing methods. Specialized selective laser sintering is being developed for silicon carbide parts. (mostly in German)

University of Twente (Netherlands) Researching Laser Generation technology. Direct metal object fabrication process similar to LENS ® (Reg. trademark of Sandia National Labs. and Sandia Corp.) in the US and MJS from Fraunhofer in Germany.

University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) (UK) SLA FDM MJM LOM The National Centre for Product Design & Development Research is the UK's leading supplier of medical models to hospitals and other organisations. We specialise in stereolithography models derived from CT scan data, but also undertake research and commercial work using other technologies such as Thermojet, FDM and LOM.

University of Warwick (UK) SLA MJM MM SLS LOM 3DP The Rapid Prototyping & Tooling Centre's research is directed towards low cost injection mold tools and optimization of selective laser sintering-based tooling processes. Several rapid prototyping technologies including SLA, SLS, 3DP, Solidscape, LOM and MJM are provided for industry directly by the RP & T Centre or in collaboration with BMW.

University of Wolverhampton (UK) The Competitiveness Centre provides a wide range of product design services, including RP, to small to medium sized business enterprises in the UK.
