3D Molecular Designs
BlueSky International Limited Helsinki University of Technology This is an older web page describing work in modeling chromosomes and viruses. Laser Etched Proteins Not additive fabrication, but very interesting nonetheless. Artist Bathsheba Grossman provides a service to etch complex molecules within a block of glass for scientific visualization and artistic enjoyment. Scientific Models / Ennex This is an article on applications of RP by Marshall Burns that discusses scientific models and related topics. Solid Terrain Modeling The company offers a modeling service based on CNC techniques with coloration and photo-overlay by inkjet methods. Not RP based, but very competitive with it. Space of the Psyche Project Art or science? Alan Moonan Bruton has made an architectural investigation into a possible structure of the psyche. He has interpreted a reverie described by Rorschach in 1918 while performing a brain dissection. Mr. Bruton has combined and morphed CAD models of the brain and Rorschach plots into extensive time sequences which will be made into physical objects using stereolithography. (This is a single page with a very large graphics content which may crash some browsers.) Universal Joint Design / Mathematical Model project UJD is an architectural and industrial design firm in Texas. The company's research is based on a mathematical model collection at the University of Göttingen (Germany) that was made under the direction of the Felix Klein, the founder of topology. Using many types of RP they've recreated many models originally made in the 1880's from plaster. The company is using the results of the research in its architectural work. University of Zurich / When Molecular Graphics Materialize An early article by Christian Stern, Heinz Stucki, Peter Stucki and Pekka Jäckli of the University of Zurich describing the use of stereolithography to build physical molecular models directly from Protein Databank Brookhaven (PDB) files.
