What's Included?

English Comprehension Services BUTN Mom now contains nearly 6,000 RP citations for 1984 through the present. Most references have abstracts or terse, pithy descriptions in lieu of an abstract. Citations cover all aspects of RP, including systems, materials, software and applications. Many business related articles and short notes are also included.

BUTN Abstracts of the Solid Freeform Fabrication Proceedings, including more than 1,000 papers, for years 1990 through 2006, trace the development of most rapid prototyping technologies from inception through commercialization. Detailed analysis of systems, materials and software are covered, as well as surveys of RP activities in specific geographic areas, industries and education. The Proceedings are the permanent record of the Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium held annually at the University of Texas at Austin. Thanks to Dr. David Bourell and Rosalie Foster for making the material available.

BUTN Abstracts of articles from Time-Compression Technologies Magazine from the present through 1999 are included. TCT is a trade magazine with a wide engineering circulation. Almost 200 articles discuss the business and practical aspects of rapid prototyping and other time-compression methods. Numerous forward-looking research papers are also an important aspect of this archive. Thanks to former Editor Christina Fuges and CTI Publishing for permitting us to make the material available.

BUTN The database includes comprehensive material from Clemson University's Laboratory to Advance Industrial Prototyping, including abstracts of dissertation and many graduate and undergraduate research reports. Thanks very much to Elaine Hunt, Director, for making the material available to the RP community.

Additional Resources
There are a number of other web sites with extensive collections of complete articles about rapid prototyping which may not be indexed or abstracted here or elsewhere. Some of these articles may have appeared in the trade or academic press or in consumer publications, or may only be available on the web. Here are listings in alphabetical order:

Ennex Corporation. Provides a selection of tutorial materials and ten articles by Marshall Burns about the future of the field.

Global Alliance of RP Associations (GARPA) The Association's web-site has an archive of numerous RP case studies, many of an unusual nature.

INNOPRO European Technology Initiative. The European Commonwealth countries have instituted an extensive program of research in manufacturing technology, medical applications and many other areas. This listing of papers and reports is maintained by the University of Erlangen, Germany.

New Product Dynamics. Provides a selection of 30 papers and articles on many facets of rapid product development and project management.

Rapid Prototyping Association of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (USA) Offers instruction, professional meetings and industry liaison services. Their web site also offers a glossary of RP terminology.

RAPTEC. A collaborative research and development project involving industrial and academic partners from various European countries which has now concluded. Its aim was to investigate and improve process chains for producing prototypes of plastic injection molded and sheet metal formed parts using RP methods. Many reports about tooling and related areas are available to the public, and RAPTEC members have access to additional confidential materials.

Wohlers Associates Inc. Provides an archive of articles by Terry Wohlers. The main thrust is the state of the industry and its future.

We hope you'll find this database useful and will let us know of any problems or suggestions for improvement. Please let us know about material you feel is missing from Mom.
