I have a great product idea, and wish to know more about using Rapid Prototyping to create my first part. Can you please help me with the proper steps to accomplishing my venture?

The question you've asked has no simple answer because it may be as complex as, "How do you form and run a successful business?" That's not going to get answered in an email and requires a lot of experience and study.

However, if all you want to do is generate a part to hold and pass around for people to discuss, I'd recommend that you contact one of the RP service bureaus in your area. Most of them are vertically integrated enough to be able to take your concept and make a physical object out of it, even if you don't have a drawing. A large, competent company in your area is Accelerated Technologies. Select more than one company to speak with and - mention us!

You can find these companies by using the SB directory on our site. Note that we do consulting on engineering and business-related problems in new product development.
