Here is some E-mail from listeners.
...
When I was a kid (late 1950's - mid 1960s), we listened to this station.
I remember a show called Gaslight Reviews or Gaslight Previews,
and it had this gorgeous, lush orchestral theme song.
According to your site, the song would be Moonlight Serenade,
but that can't be the song I remember, because Moonlight Serenade
was the Glenn Miller theme song...
Thanks so much,
Susan
Enjoyed your tribute to an old radio show that was part of my child hood in
the late 50s early 60s. Gaslight Review was something special, a little thing
my Mom always turned on as I went to bed...
... that brought afond memory of growing up in NJ.
Thanks
David
I have been looking for the Limelight theme for some years now and thought it to be lost. I had listened to WPAT since the 1950s and back in those days they had a lot of popular classics mixed in with the other music. And this station was always on in my house. It was partially responsible for my becoming an advanced classical pianist. This piece, in particular, the Limelight theme, has been rolling around in my head for 40 or more years! I want to arrange it for solo piano but didn't trust my memory to get all the music just right. You have no idea what a joy it was to hear the current (and my favorite) version that you have on the website. It brought back so many memories. We had these big floor model radios in those days with a large speaker, and I would sit right up next to it to listen.
Is there any way you could make the music available to me? As I said, I'd like to make a solo piano arrangement, which I would record and send back to you as soon as it's done. It will be very beautiful and you can put it on your website. I'm sorry the station was unable to continue in its original format. Thank you so much for caring to share its history and for keeping the memory alive.
Most Sincerely,
Ed Rywalt
