"Mastiffs Need Us"

********************************

In the previous link, there were pictures of happy mastiffs that had been rescued, and were enjoying a new life!

On this page, you will see pictures of how some mastiffs appear at the time of their rescue...... the minute we get them into our possession, which is also the minute their lives begin to change for the better!

Of course not all rescues come to us in these deplorable conditions, some are in need of rehoming due to circumstances that cannot be avoided, from loving families.

Others, such as these below, need us sooooo badly.... we cannot forget that this type of abuse is within our society, ever day, every minute! It will only change when we as a society, together, say, "Enough!" "It's time to change!"

And incorporate laws and enforcement, to protect our Gentle Giants and all animals!

*****************************************

This is an all too common sight..... you can see how emotionally traumatizing this

imprisonment is for this gentle male mastiff.... but whomever dumped him isn't looking into his eyes now...... or feeling that hard, cold concrete floor, or hearing all the other shrieking, terrifying noises around him!

*************************************

Again...... an all to often seen sight.... a mastiff chained outside, away from his

family members, with no food or water, and left to the elements!

Look at how filthy and wet this mastiff is.... see how severely swollen

and infected his lower legs are from laying, chained in the mud!!!!!!

This happens every day in our society!!!!

**********************************

And, it can be even worse!

Below, are several pictures of mastiffs that were rescued from a puppymill operation.

Mastiffs are caged, penned, chained, placed in barn stalls, and even sometimes,

abandoned trailers....... they are used for one thing only.... to produce puppies for sale!

Never vetted, never loved, talked to, or touched, and most times, barely fed.... and in the cases below, they were left to die when the owners lost interest in them........

Starvation and dehydration have taken their toll on these mastiffs......

as their protruding ribs and pelvis bones demonstrate.....

Some of the most severe abuse is starvation....... left to die slowly.....

all fat has been long reabsorbed by their bodies.... bodily fluids are all but gone....

the absorption of muscle and then actual bone tissue is next.... complete organ failure

will follow...... animals left to die like this will eat rocks to try to survive....

but it will not help them,( many of these mastiffs found to have rocks in their stomachs).

Flesh is literally being eaten off of their bodies.... from lying in urine and feces,

and the infection cannot be fought off by their systems.... they will be eaten alive

from outside and from within........

I believe thirteen mastiffs were rescued and saved from this horrible puppymill....

They were in critical condition for a long time, and the recovery was very slow......

But, they made it due to Rescuers! Some dogs there, did not make it though,..... many were so emaciated, they could not stand or walk...... their bodies had shut down internally

they could not be brought back to health........ none were aggressive.......

All deserved better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**********************************

And........ not all rescues are full grown.... some are just babies.....

These two litter mates are purebred English mastiffs....

they weigh a little over 2 pounds each.......

They are 2 months old!!!!!!!!!!! (They should weigh ten times that amount, at least!) They are at death's door!

A "backyard breeder" was convinced to surrender these babies when it

was obvious that they were going to die..... from what????

From easily treatable intestinal parasites, that had taken over their bodies....

the breeder would not spend any money to take them to a veterinarian for this

easily treatable condition......... so they were starving to death.....

Until they were rescued!

There are so many in need....... and so few rescuers.......

How long do these precious animals have to wait for our society to hear them?

Thank you for viewing my page....... the next link on my home page will take you to a page entitled, "What Rescue Means",

where I try to explain what rescue really means and entails, and why it is needed, and

how I hope some day, it will become a thing of the past, due to our society's

awakening, and implementation of strict animal ownership laws and

licensing............. thanks again for your support and time......
