| Jada is a 3 year old English Mastiff spayed female with a fawn colored coat. Jada is up to
date on all of her vet care and weighs around 125 pounds. She has an athletic build and is very agile. Jada is the newest addition to our Group Home Facility. She will require a lot of relaxation, positive socialization and confidence-building while she is with us and will require an adoptive owner who will take the time to get to know her by visiting many times and will understand and be onboard with the positive and gentle methods she requires to be a successful companion for you (and you for her). If you are not local to the Alliance, Ohio area, the multiple-visit process that we insist on prior to adopting Jada would require a lot of travel. In the summer of 2009, Jada was turned over to a shelter, where she was very scared in that environment. The shelter behaviorist determined that it would be best for Jada to go to a qualified mastiff rescue where she could be worked with over time before being ready to be adopted. In between the shelter and the Group Home, Jada spent 2 months in a very wonderful, friendly and very busy foster home. There, Jada revealed in her behaviors that certain things were stressing her out and that she might better be served in a quieter environment with less people in and out. (Jada was simply not able to interpret the good will that was trying to be shown to her due to insecurities on her part...her foster home was wonderful, it is just that Jada would feel fearful.) Now at the Group Home facility, she is doing well and feeling relaxed, as there are not a lot of people in and out. Our trainers from North East Dog Training, LLC, visit weekly to semi-weekly to the Group Home and so Jada will be engaged in one on one, private training sessions with our very trusted trainers. When we have visitors over to the Group Home, it is a controlled setting and our visitors are taught how to interact with our fearful dogs in order to allow the dog to make progress in their socilization with strange and new people. Jada is good with other dogs and we are working with her interaction with our cat. A quiet home with another well adjusted adult dog would be good and "no children" is probably best as well. Breed experience and positive training knowledge would be great for her adoptive home to have as well. Adoption Terms: Application Only (access the application here), References and Vet checked, Home Visit prior to adoption, Fenced yard preferred but not a must, Large breed experience preferred, Committed to training; ADOPTION FEE: $350.00, Contact: Cindy Wieland, c.wieland@att.net. 330-823-6582 |
