WORKLIFE PAGES
...being some chronicles relating to what I do for money in this world...

"I make now a stand for belief that I'm steadfast
in hating all of the bullshit you give me about my future, present and past
who are you to infringe your values upon me, I've learned the hard way
stepping on my toes, you've put my back to the wall, my back to the wall"

~ Biohazard ~

back on the horse and ride... today a couple of good initial contacts were made... the highlight would be a state director position with a rehabilitation and vocational services company based in Indiana... the state director would be based out of Orlando and run 26 locations between Jacksonville and Tampa... the pay is less than the Daytona job and sounds like more work, but it sounds like it might be more interesting and the idea of being somewhat mobile always has an appeal for me since I love to drive and work in different environments and you may alread have noticed I love to communicate through words... this sounds like a challenge I'd enjoy at the level I'm looking for...

it's also another grown-up job... so the kids need to be happy with it and there's not enough information yet to know whether they will be (and they don't tend to make long term decisions, they just experience everything moment to moment)... and I don't know about appearances... cutting the hair is not the obstacle, but not having any suits or formal business wear with me might be... I shall feel out the recuiter in the second telephone interview and see where we go from there...

the second positive call was from a local skilled nursing and independent living facility looking for an assistant dietary manager... sounds like a piece of cake for me (pun intended) and salary wasn't offered, though I said I was flexible even when I set my lower limit...

I believe either job would be a step up from most of the others I've been scouting... the first would definitely be growth in most every way... initially it sounds like an excellent fit for me and the salary matches what I left in the eighties (which for this area would be growth as the pay scales in Florida are less than half what they pay in NY State... I'd imagine that these days a state director in NY State is making six figures)...

one thing I need to do is get off the money trail... that is, stop focusing so much on salary and focus on the nature and tasks involved in the job itself... not an easy thing to do when next months bills are dependant on the pay check not yet scheduled to come... still, I think I can be professional enough to counsel myself and rise above the fears and challenges to perform well in an interview and start the job... after all, after a check or few the financial crisis is over and the day I am hired the fear that there won't be a check in time to pay the bills is gone...

so focus... leave the day-to-day real physical world concerns behind and focus on the task at hand... there's a job to be done, I can do it... everything flows to resolution from there...

IT'S THE GREAT JOB FOR THE NEW MILLENIUM HUNT!
