WORKLIFE PAGES
...being some chronicles relating to what I do for money in this world...

what makes life an uphill climb?
the need to survive
the need to accumulate enough wealth
to pay for survival
and I suppose the goal is to reach a point
where there is enough saved
so life becomes a coast downhill
which can be a much more fun journey

more resumes out over the weekend... more interviews set for this week...

today there was three... nothing exciting... let's see... first there was an imitation perfume wholesale distributer looking for people to sell their product... they may be actually looking for store managers as they say, or they may be just another MLM deal looking for independent distributers... the latter was all I saw, though one person said he was getting a store near Sea World at the first of the new year... they called back for a second interview, which sounds like it's going to be a quasi-training group interview, no pay... I told them I'd try to make it... it's not high on my list...

next up was an advertising company, small scale... they appear to do telephone marketing and print distribution of stuff aimed at tourists... five minute interview, the typical empty questions... even emodel has their pitch much more refined... I didn't get a call back from them yet and it's another that is not high on my list on first impression...

and then a non-profit organization aimed at helping to find missing children... based out of Tampa, which is where all the interesting work happens, the Orlando and dozens of other satellite offices are there for fund-raising... the manager in this two person office couldn't give concrete salary figures, said she had 20 people working for her, and was loking for new branch managers because they planned to expand... door to door cold call fund raising... a great cause, but I didn't see enough print or infrastructure to have anything to sell if I were to pitch the organization to local businesses...

so all in all, a mediocre day but relatively busy day in the job hunt for the new millenium (hey, I figure we give it a fancy name and maybe it'll motivate me even more to make it a grand success... or something like that) J

other than the driving around, I sent out another few dozen resumes and made about a dozen calls, setting up three more interviews for this week...

and the clock ticks and another day goes by without income... not good, especially not this time of year... but then (I'll keep rambling in the journal)... alas, I'll remember and friends will understand... wontcha?... and as for the rest of you, well, why are you reading anyway? (become a friend) J

IT'S THE GREAT JOB FOR THE NEW MILLENIUM HUNT!
