WORKLIFE PAGES
...being some chronicles relating to what I do for money in this world...
Back To Worklife
all good things come to an end
at least that's what they say
but I still hope to find a job
that makes work feel like play
well... I'm back (expecting maybe a smile?)
I hope to be able to smile about work once I find what I'm gonna be doing at work... for the moment, my full time job is searching for an acceptible job (if not the right job)... and this is the worklife pages where you'll hear about (what else?) the worklife (ahhh, the master of understatement lives)...
I've been to a half dozen interviews and it's been about a week and a half since I kicked into full time job searching, so I figure it's about time I opened this section of the babbling journals world again... it's been ten months (or is that eleven) since I last pondered the concept of work... it still makes little sense to me... but I do enjoy eating and having some creature comforts and I'd like to have some of them (like a bed and provacy and a comfortable place to sit) again (it's been a relatively long time)... so it's time to find income again...
and to kick off this worklife babbling I steal from the journals...
I almost didn't head out today because the first job smelled of MLM and the second is another that won't be available until next year and did not require me to stop in to meet the supervisor right away... but I pushed myself out and cranked myself up and headed on down the road anyway and then just plodded through the overall blahs I woke up with...
so the first job was a mass first interview as I sensed, like most MLMs are, and tomorrow is a second interview, one on one... it's for a recruiter for scouts for a modelling agency, lower base pay than I'd like but maybe the commission and stock options and other benefits might make it appealing... if they offer I might give it a few months trial...
the other job is in the graphics department for a company that makes package labels... it won't be available until about February, but I can probably have it if I'm available then... as far as pay goes, it starts closer to where I'd like to start (accepting that any entry level job in a new field down here is a substantial pay cut compared to a management job... and even more a cut compared to what I could be making up north... even back in the eighties if I went right back into the same health care administration field down here I'd have had to take a 50% pay cut)... got to pay for the climate... but it's more the fact that this is a non-union state and the general employment atmosphere is not sophisticated with lower standards...
so anyway, tomorrow is another day, and another interview...
