A Journal of Sorts

"he lives in the yard, he keeps himself hard
he keeps himself homeless and heartless and hard
he sleeps under the stairs with the heirs of nothing
a nothing means no one cares but I love him dear
and I've loved him for 100s and 1000s of years"

I spent a large part of last night reading in Deja News because I wanted to see for myself what was said by whom in the newsgroups... it seems amazing how so many get caught up the same old games of control and who's right and who's wrong... and startling to see who said what about me in the year I was gone... I'm learning a lot by reviewing the messages for myself... some who claim to be nutral don't seem to realize they attack everyone as if they are above the debate, but by correcting everyone they are in essense putting everyone down and creating a third position in the debate... many want to be leader...

and looking back into the newsgroup today again, there's the same few people flaming the FAQ as if it's some devil-document that's gonna take over their minds and do all sorts of horrible things to people... personally, I recommend reading this FAQ and others to anyone interested in joining newsgroups... answers to basic questions and common practices are helpful to know...

anyway, what I learned from reading the archives is I'm going to probably have to deal with these prejudiced obsessed people as long as I'm on the web as too man of my projects involve support groups... I could try to completely ostracize the one newsgroup from my world, but that seems ridiculous just because of a few obsessed people... and besides, so many of my projects were born there as I was there years before the complainers... so I think I'll finally use the filter (or killfile, as it's often called) option and see if that works...

on the more amusing side of the dysfunctional soap opera, the asl-flame email group (not one I moderate) is holding a flame of the week contest... I wonder if this will encourage flames or discourage them... perhaps I will find some useful material for my Rantsville garden once I break ground there J
