"we didn't start the fire
it was always burning
since the world's been turning on us
we didn't start the fire
but when we are gone
will it still burn on and on and on and on..."
~ Billy Joel ~
ok... so... just when I'm starting to relax an enjoy the smoothe waters... I find out that I didn't stay connected with the establishment and government and all those rules they have well enough during this move... so my mail didn't follow me immediately after I moved... so by the time I got the forwarded mail, the insurance on the car had been cancelled... I took the policy six months ago and paid 80% of the premium for the year (just one more payment left), but they cancelled it because they wanted the final payment for the full year before six months... so they're sending me a refund for the rest of the year I paid for... mind you, they've been holding this money for four months...
amazing...
but that's not the real challenge... naturally the government got wind of the cancellation of insurance and suspended my license... or so the insurance company said... I mean, naturally, right?... there's nothing in the mail to tell me this... no notice... I found out when I tried to do the right thing, which is get insurance and transfer the license and car to Florida since I live here now... but here's the rub... I've got to call NY and find out whom to pay to get my NY license reinstated before I can trade it in for a FL license... that means long distance searching through bureacrasies during the day... just love being on hold or waiting in motor vehicle department lines when paying by the minute...
so... I'm gonna be stuck without transportation until I can get this fixed... since I am more than 1200 miles from the long slow lines I have to wait in to get this paperwork snafu fixed, it'll be done on the phone long distance and by mail... patience, I suppose... I will need a lot of it...
luckily I was on vacation already and it's relatively peaceful and comfortable here and there's no pressing places I need to get to... but I'll fix the paper chase since without a car in Florida, getting around is a real pain... just gonna cost more $ and be a pain to figure out long distance... governments and insurance companies are such fun... not to mention broken cable boxes...
and how are you? J
