GETTING REAL

Poetic Justice
do you think I'm real
cuz I make you feel
with the words I write
in the middle of the night
do you want to hold me
well have you told me?
you can reach out too
if you think it's true
or do you believe in other miracles
in older books and long haired fairy tales
in holy promises that others tell you to follow
did you know that can make you quite hollow?
it's poetic justice
that you fall in love
with something you can't touch
something you think is high above
that's poetic justice
the wall that you build
to keep the stories just out of reach
so you don't have to face your own will
compromise is not a matter of choice
unless you use your own voice
follow yourself or you will end
up being your only friend
do you think it's real
when you start to feel
does your body hunger
are you afraid of thunder?
do you want to touch me
can you weather the storm
of the merging emotions
are you getting warm
or do you believe in other miracles
in older books and long haired fairy tales
in hallowed halls of gold and promises out of the blue
if it doesn't come from inside you, then what's inside of you?
it's poetic justice
that you fall in love
with something you can't touch
something you think is high above
that's poetic justice
the wall that you build
to keep the stories just out of reach
so you don't have to face your own will
comfort is more than a roll in the hay
unless you give your whole self away
follow your dreams and desires or in the end
you will be your only friend
