Daddy's Little Girl
there are strangers who will use your for their pleasure
some will not care what it does to you inside
there are dangers caused when people are so selfish
caught up in a web of fear and pride
there are people who are supposed to care for you
but some can not protect you from their own hands
there is madness when people are so corrupted
and confused by rules they don't understand
it's the darkest secret kept in the heartland
they say love your neighbor
they say do not touch
they say stay away from strangers
and you can't love your daddy too much
they say do unto others
as you'd have them do to you
but what do you say to the child
when her daddy is through
tell the preacher daddy, just what did you do
(tell the heavens baby, what did your daddy do)
god protects the children, that's what we've been sold
but what about the secrets, no one's ever told
maybe we're too sheltered, from the cold cruel world
but cruelty is worse when it's hidden at home
just ask daddy's little girl
damn the father, curse his ghost
she should have killed him, burned him to toast
damn the wise men, who write the rules
damn the rules, that make us fools
people don't talk about it, that's the rule
it won't happen around here...
there are strangers who will take you as their treasure
some will not care if they show you respect
one man's abuse is another man's pleasure
but what of those who abuse those who they'd protect?
that's the dark secret we try to reject
it won't go away by ignoring it, but then...
what did we expect?
god protects the children, so we have been sold
but what about the secrets, the children never told?
maybe we're too sheltered
give the truth a whirl
the whole truth is our best protection
just ask... daddy's little girl
just ask... daddy's little girl
