Canisolida Mastiffs Web Site Updates

11/3/07:

Well, we've seen a young boerboel, Paizlee come and go, we've boarded Nancy's great danes again, and now we are keeping Teeka safe while she waits her move to Sherry. We also got an award & I am displaying it at the top of the page for a bit, then will replace it to the bottom. Wow - an award!!! I was thrilled.

A new dog to the program is Bear, who is being fostered by one of our new foster homes, and also is in the Medical Needs Program because he is Heartworm Positive. He is a handsome mastiff mix, so access his page to see what he looks like!

Improvements were made to the foster area, as privacy panels were installed. This will afford the new dog more comfort and allow them a safe area that has enough space for them to play and do potty, access the outside via dog door and not feel threatened by all of my other dogs staring at them from the other side of the fence!

I am also proud to announce that CMFRH, Inc. is now an official 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. We have been busy fundraising and taking on new dog cases. Contributions to the organization are now tax deductible!

I continue to have too much to do and not enough time. Time is metered out quickly while I let it pass slowly :)

Cindy

8/19/07:

Gunner has long since had an adoption (on 7/4/07). If you have not seen his adoption pics yet, access his page!

Sammy is doing GREAT since her surgery and is looking good, feeling healthier, and growing in hair to cover her shaved spots. Check her out here.

Nancy's two great danes stayed here while she was on vacation & here are a few pics of her special boys.

As usual, I continue to care for the crew, work on the organization, and have taken on another foster dog: a puppy named Paizlee. I am hoping to find a special home for Paizlee soon.

I said I'd give you some pics of Cruiser - here she is! She will get her spay surgery in the end of September and will not be available for adoption until then.

I am hoping to update you with a picture of me with the entire Canisolida Crew, but I am loking for someone to take the picture. The next time a friend comes over, I will try to convince them to take the camera in hand :)

Ta ta for now, Cindy

6/17/07:

It has been a while since I have notified you of any news. Busy is not the word; how about swamped?

New lingo: "massive resistance" and "hip prop thingy." Can you guess what they are? Check to see if you are correct at the lingo page!

Since last update, a few dogs have been listed up for adoption or need. Currently, Gunner is staying here at Canisolida and he awaits joining a family when his they move into their new home. The crew and I (except Lawrence) are enjoying having Gunner stay with us & look forward to when he can thrive with his own forever family. Gunner came a bit scared of his new situation, but has come a very long way. He has met and played with all of the dogs, except Lawrence. (Big Lawrence ain't havin' a new kid on his block.) Since arriving, Gunner has put on 10 pounds and has received his neuter. I'm proud of this boy & grateful to my WONDERFUL volunteers for coming to visit with him & help me out with him. Gunner's page

Sammy, just like her sister Marley, had numerous cysts and papillomas that needed surgical removal. So, recently, she had the surgery done & it was a great success. She goes to the vet tomorrow, actually, to get the stitches removed. Way to go Sammy! Sammy has presurgery pics up and I will be posting her postsurgery pics later at that page if you wanna check it out later...

Our memorial page includes three mastiffs whose lives will be forever cherished ~ Boni, Titan, and Goliath. It is so hard to say goodbye, but just as hard to realize when a senior mastiff is experiencing pain and suffering that you must enlist the help of your vet to release them from their pain. I often hear potential adopters deny the opportunity to adopt an older mastiff because their experience with the mastiff will be short lived. But there are some very special people out there who entered an older mastiff's life in their golden years - the enrichment of lives becoming a mutual thing. Andrea had Goliath for two years before he passed away & she never regretted once welcoming him into her loving home.

I was out playing Frisbee with the young mixed breed dogs. I heard a kitten cry across the road. My inclination was to think it was an abandoned kitten responding to my voice - so I went out the fence & crossed the road. I called & the kitten meowed back. She was at the base of a lilac bush at the edge of the road. Just a little baby ~ I took her into my arms and brought her inside to safety. I set up a spot for her. I will get her completed on vet care & offer her for adoption. I have named her Cruiser. Pics later...

The nonprofit stuff is coming along. We got an EIN number and I am excited about that. I continue to work on preparing things for sale at eBay to benefit the rescue. So far, that is going slowly and I hope to pick up the pace on that as things all come together.

I know it has been a while, but know that I am still alive here and very much taking care of my crew of dogs and working on the organization.

~Cindy

2/6/07:

New piclingo, guys! I think you'll get a laugh out of the newest terms (Teddy Bear & Road Block) and pictures (a few new Oldsters, Head Hug, Mastiff Mountain, Couch Protector).

Spencer is our latest adoptable mastiff. He is actually a mastiff mix. He is being fostered at AnnDees Mastiffs - a brand new site in our network!

Kirbyland Mastiffs has activated a new link called "Mastiffs Need Us" at their page- very touching stuff about what happens in mastiff rescue - can bring one to tears as well, but this page is meant to educate and hopefully effect change in our society as far as the treatment of all dogs.

Not much else is going on. We patiently wait for our Nonprofit Status to be approved by the IRS.

I appreciate all of the emails and support! Thanks!!

~Cindy

12-30-06:

I am excited to announce the selection of our Person of the Year for 2007. You'll have to visit the page to see who this special individual is!

There's new lingo...ever wonder what a butt puncher is? How about a couch protector or a ride junky? Those are a few of the latest updates at the Mastiff PicLingo Page! There are a few new pics there as well. Enjoy.

Welcome Canisolida Mastiffs Foster and Retirement Home, Inc. to the world of nonprofit corporations in America! Now when anyone accesses canisolida.com or canisolida.org, they will see this page. I decided to keep using my old webpage builder software to make it, as it is so easy & quick. (Updating the other product proved to be difficult. I am still very grateful to J.J. for the WebEasy software.)

Did you get to see Kirbyland Mastiffs yet? I think it is a beautiful site & look forward to more updates on it from its webmistress, Lana. We're also not going to forget Moistmugs Mastiffs...Lisa's gearing up to do some updating on her page as well, so we look forward to sharing these updates with you when they are ready.

I had a few pictures of Morgan stored from way back when Lois went to go visit her in her adoptive home & so I uploaded a couple new ones of Morgan with her dad. Here's the link to Morgan's page if you wanna check them out: Morgan

Sometimes I get really backlogged with making pages and it has been over a year in the waiting for Lois's Visit to Canisolida Mastiffs. Lois came in October of 2005 and the visit was a spectacular one. I am very glad to have finally completed this page :)

I also finally got new seasonal pages up: one for the summer of 2006 and one for December of 2006.

At the rollcall page, I inserted a few images of Prissy, the little boerboel pup that stayed with us for a week. You'll see a link there to more pictures of her playing in the snow with the gang.

As ever, Cindy

12-3-06:

A few things are new at the site right now.

Teensie had a few new pictures put up at her page.

Cubby has her page up, as well as Gypsy and Jenkins. Yogi was adopted and is enjoying his new home immensely! Our Gone but not Forgotten page has five additions, unfortunately: Harley (Nancy's harlequin great dane), Pooh (Lois's faithful and stoic English mastiff gal), Skippy (Cindy's little man), Ollie (Nancy's big mastiff boy), and Ashton (Sherry's sweet Neapolitan boy).

Once the rescue becomes incorporated and officially a nonprofit entity, a new home page will go up. If you'd like to have a sneak preview at the new home page to come, click here. I want to thank J.J. for the software used to build that page. I plan on using that software to develop the new homepage and its links.

Meanwhile, Droopy's situation is urgent. She has only had one person inquire. She needs a loving caretaker and is waiting...

I recorded a new song this morning & loaded it up to the soundbytes page. Can't you just hear a seasonal melody in there somewhere?

Brydie's adoptive family (formerly called Bess while she was with Canisolida) has sent wonderful pictures of her enjoying the good life, so I created a page featuring her beautiful pictures.

10-30-06:

Hello, it has been a while since I wrote anything here. It's been busy. It was a busy summer. I do have a collection of pictures from the summer and fall of '06 to load, links to update, and existing pages to update, but when I get to that - anyone knows :) :)!! Here are a few things going on at Canisolida:

1) I am working now on establishing Canisolida Mastiffs F&R Home as a nonprofit 501 c3 charitable organization. Wish me luck! I look forward to future activities that will enable me to help more mastiffs in need.

2)Teensie had a major knee surgery (TPLO) and is requiring extra special care. Thanks go out to Lana for helping out with the Princess Royalty Herself!

3) Some sad news: Skippy and Oliver have passed over the bridge, awaiting their owners to come join them some day. I shall put up their images at the gone but not fogotten page as soon as I am able.

4) I've had numerous requests to help out dogs in need in my immediate local area. Although these dogs are not mastiffs, I am happy to assist. Yogi, the black lab, is the most recent adoptee. Look for pics of him in his new home soon.

Thanks for coming to this website! I appreciate your support.

~Cindy Wieland
