About Canisolida Mastiffs

Established in 1994.

Initial interest in showing and breeding was displaced quickly by the desire to help mastiffs in need of care and homes. The realization that so many mastiffs out there are in need completely diminished the thought of establishing a breeding program and instead launched a passionate desire to assist those mastiffs in need. Our home is centered around ensuring the comfort of the dogs that live here permanently or temporarily.

Lila was the mastiff who came here tired and overbred, having known only a kennel her whole life of 6 years. How she unfolded into a mastiff that vastly enjoyed the hikes through the woods and the walks through the fields & streams, as well as the comfort of the couch, inspired the desire to help other mastiffs to realize what peace and enjoyment are. Lila enjoyed her freedom for 4 years & passed away when she was ten. Many, many others have come here and either lived the rest of their lives here or were placed into loving, waiting homes.

I created this site using a novice software and realize it is not professionally done. I hope you still appreciate it anyway! I wanted it to be image-rich and not have a lot of jargon on it. Pictures are worth a thousand words!! So let the dogs speak volumes. My pictures are highly compressed and if you want a noncompressed version of an image you see here, please email me about it.

Canisolida is derived from Latin and means "dog of solid proportion."

I am committed to helping mastiffs and will do so as long as I am able.
