OVERVIEW:

The Chesterfield Kings black and white film "Where Is The Chesterfield King?" which had it's worldwide Premiere September 30, 2000 at the plush, world-famous Eastman House/Dryden Theater in Rochester, New York. The script was originally written by Greg some 3-4 years prior and then was re-written again! It's a comedy/drama in the vein of the Bowery Boys, Batman, The Monkees Show, A Hard Day's Night, Hawaiian Eye and the Munsters, with a little Three Stooges slapstick to boot!

GREG: When I was young, I loved The Bowery Boys and The Three Stooges. It never occurred to me that you had a bunch of grown men acting idiotic and hanging out in a club house. In a way, being in a band is like this-or at least THIS band is!!!

The band filmed sequences in London, Rome, Paris, Honolulu and Las Vegas, amongst several other locations.

GREG: Shows like ROUTE 66 or NAKED CITY were written, directed, and produced on a genius level-Not that I'm comparing our primitive effort to these landmark productions-but the fact that they were done on location-and not on a studio set always impressed me. It could give you a real insight into the story that a stage set could not...we tried to do the same with our production-if being in London or Hawaii was called for in the script-we would film in those locations. We really tried for an authentic atmosphere.

The film features songs from the Kings release "Where The Action Is!" album as well as tracks from their "Surfin' Rampage" LP. This avant-garde film features a cast of psychos including a villain, some numb-scull thugs and a whip-wielding stage director. The film is in black and white with exception of a color sequence when one of the band members has a "Technicolor Dream" that the Chesterfield Kings have turned into a surf band!
