About Me
.... Well... let me see.... I started this website because when my mother first got cancer, I was so stressed couldn't find information. In my correspondence with people who have loved ones with cancer and I have found that they also have needed information. I wanted everything in an easy to use and convenient place.
When I faced mother's diagnosis... terminal... I tried to find stories that would help me prepare for what would lay ahead, but only found survivors stories. That is why the stories are included.
I was blessed to have a circle of efriends who helped me by sharing their experiences... and support. It helped not to be alone. I found that at most sites, it just did not feel right to talk about end of life issues when so many people were coming to find hope... so I offered my email... and found others didn't want to talk on an open forum either. Currently I have 103 people on my “cancer friends” email list (of these 60 have had loved ones die from lung cancer and 20 I have lost touch with). Some people write often, some we only "talk" a few times, others have become dear friends...and I am thankful that I have met each one of them.
Blessings in my life include being married to a wonderful man, Craig, for 25 years, our children, two girls, Heather (30) and Michelle (24), and two boys, Daniel (20) and Erik (16) and our two grandsons, Dakotah (10) and Dylan (8), our new granddaughter, Zoey (5 months old).
Here are a few of the things I have done/been: an office manager; a overhead door sales representative; a room mother for 15 years; a La Leche League Leader for 16 years; Campfire Leader; substitute teacher; Children’s Department Director, Nursery Director and Trustee at my church (thank goodness, not at the same time!). I sing in the church choir. I also love to arrange flowers and paint. I love learning about the computer and all that it can do and hope to do some graphic design someday. I just finished a online course in html and have been enjoying writing my web pages, making graphics, backgrounds and such for these pages.
Southeast Texas is where I call home. I will be 53 in June.
Please feel free to contact me (please put cancer in the subject line of your email)...just to "talk" or
if you have an idea or story that I could use at the site.
Always,
Christine
