CHORUS
House of Admetus, open and generous,
host to the god Apollo himself.
He wasn't too proud to stay for a year,
and over the tilted hillsides, Apollo
tended your flocks, with his flute and lyre.
Enchanting herds he kept, too:
First lynxes, then lions, even singing fawns.
Under his care, your flocks increased,
and all of your crops have flourished, too.
Now your king, his eyes still wet,
has opened your gates to another guest.
I stand in awe, and I wish you well.
