(the CHILDREN cry and embrace their mother's corpse as they are comforted by ADMETUS and the SERVANTS)

 CHILD
(The girl cries out. The boy speaks out:)Mama has gone down.
Father, no light for her.
She leaves, and leaves me an orphan.
Look! Look at her face! Her limp hands.
Mother, listen, listen to me!
It's me! It's me, mom!
It's me calling and kissing you...

 ADMETUS
She's gone; your mother is gone, and we are left
to suffer this pain and sorrow by ourselves.

 CHILD
Father, I'm just a child, alone. I'm losing my own mother.
The ugliness I feel, you share with me, sister.
Father, you were wrong, wrong to marry.
She's died before your old age with her.
Mother, now that you're gone, our house dies.
