Resource limit for adult Medicaid:  $2,000 for 1 person, $3,000 for 2.  Different standard is used for nursing facility coverage.  Excess resources can be disposed of without penalty but problems can arise concerning nursing facility coverage and Food Stamps

Children's coverage has no resource test.

Assets of applicant and spouse counted together to determine eligibility.

1 car is excluded.  The family home and surrounding property are excluded.  Personal household property is generally excluded.  Some Income producing property is excluded.  Burial plots are excluded.

Most liquid assets are counted.  All non-excluded assets in applicant's name are counted but see resulting trusts.

All assets of incompetent applicants are excluded until legal authority obtained to dispose of assets.
