CAP AIDS

CAP for Persons with AIDS (CAP/AIDS) is a statewide program which provides an alternative to nursing facility care for individuals:

  • Of all ages,
  • Who live in a private residence, and
  • Who meet the medical criteria for participation in CAP/AIDS.

The AIDS Care Branch in the Division of Health Promotion (DHP):

  • Is the state lead agency for CAP/AIDS,
  • Determines who may participate in the program, and
  • Is responsible for the program's operation, with oversight provided by the Division of Medical Assistance (DMA).

HCFA determines the number of individuals the state may serve each year.
