"KID BROTHER" an original
screenplay A dramatically funny coming-of-age story about LUTHER PORTER, a teenage boy in his freshman year of high school who desperately wants to earn the love, respect, and approval of his older brother. The tension augments when Luther is pulled up to the varsity squad forcing the brothers to play for the same football team, the Grasshoppers at Molehill High School. Luther is the younger brother determined to show his older brother MITCHELL PORTER, the senior star varsity quarterback, he is adept at football too. It's mostly overlooked since they are the worst team in the league. They are coached by the deplorable COACH ENOS who is systematically harassed by the school ANNOUNCER. While Mitchell strains at a Saturday double-session practice Luther is forced to go back-to-school shopping with their congenial mother, LUCY PORTER. WADE, Mitchell's best friend, has tickets to a nearby amusement park and the two boys decide to go as a last recreation of summer. Mitchell asks permission from Lucy and is given a conditional yes; only if he takes Luther with. Luther ends up driving and brings his best friend JASON along. The four boys head off for an event filled day at THUNDER BEACH. Upon arriving the two older boys quickly abandon the two younger boys to fend for themselves. This sibling deceit sets the scene for the rites-of-passage that Luther is faced with as he confronts Mitchell and his mean spirited attacks for the first time. Turning a negative into as positive Luther and Jason quickly begin to chase two pretty girls, ROXANNE and DAWN throughout the park. Meanwhile, Mitchell and Wade are wreaking havoc, lighting firecrackers and unknowingly being pursued by a ridiculous park SECURITY GUARD. Luther and Jason finally meet Roxanne and Dawn and it turns out the girls are cheerleaders for the opening game opponent Freeport Crickets. Mitchell and Wade have mischievously started a strawberry daiquiri party just by passing the word. The boys ready to leave when Luther has one more heated exchange with Mitchell making his position terribly clear as the bumbling security force captures the wrong guys. Back at the first day of school Mitchell, with help from Wade, still badgers Luther to a degree. Luther has run-ins with the school principal, PRINCIPAL DURAND. Gradually Mitchell begins his empathy for his little brother. Coach Enos gives a highly unmotivated motivational speech. The Announcer continues his Coach bashing as well. Friday soon comes and the brothers are for the first time playing on the same team in an actual game. Luther's missed a practice and isn't playing. However, the Grasshoppers are getting hurt faster than they can be replaced and Luther is brought in the game by his brother without approval of Coach Enos. Soon after Luther ends up getting hurt and is tended to by Mitchell. Back on the offensive march down field, Mitchell ends up tossing a last second pass to his KID BROTHER Luther who makes a spectacular catch but Molehill loses the game. The brothers have both grown a little, and each has learned to love and respect the other. Then Roxanne and Dawn show up to Luther and Jason's delight. Luther and Jason leave with the girls and Mitchell and Wade are pursued by college scouts. Finally, Coach Enos confronts the verbally abusive Announcer who in reality turns out to be his KID BROTHER.
