2001 Tarheel Miata Club Calendar of Events A quick message from the President - Much many apologies for a slow start for 2001. As many of you are aware, I had extensive back surgery at the first of the year and recovery has been slow to say the least. As a result, the normal planning meeting has been postponed. Emails are currently circulating throughout club members on ideas for fun runs for this year. If you have any ideas at all, please pass them along. The ideas we have thus far can be seen on the 2001 Calendar page. Please realize that all dates are tentative and subject to change.. Just email me at: butch@miata.net with any and all suggestions! January - President has back surgery to better fit in the Miata, but fails to conduct planning meeting for the year. Strike 1. February - Electronic suggestions for runs begin coming in. Calendar "shell" placed on the club website. Lors of open date remain - Strike 2 on the President. March - Open April - Open May 18, 19, & 20th - Return to Beech Mountain for the Annual Beech Mt. Hill Climb. We enjoyed that last year even though it was a bit nippy! This will be an "over nighter" and no racing will be involved, but rumor has it that TMC makes the best of it as key spectators!!! June 27-29 Return to the VIR for the second annual Virginia International Raceway Homecoming. Rumor has it that Carroll Shelby will be returning to VIR for the event! - Again, we enjoyed that one last year as well. July - The month is reserved for TMC's annual birthday celebration. July 27-29 - Miatas at Deals Gap 2001. For several club members, this will be the 4th or 5th straight trip! We always have a good time and enjoy the hundreds of other Miata enthusiasts from around the world. There are always lots of vendors at this event where you can buy all sorts of goodies for your baby! Please follow the following link for more information:GAP2001. Please note that this is an "open" event and that there are no true event organizers. August - Open September - Open October - A trip to Hot Springs, NC and on to Gatlinburg is in the making!
