Pooka was our first dog, and our introduction to the world of dog shows, specifically obedience. Her name comes from Celtic mythology; a pooka is a mischevious spirit, usually in animal form. She is more formally known as U-ACHX, U-UD Misty Highlands' Pooka, UDX, AX, AXJ, S-UD, OAC-V, NJC-V, FDCH, TT, n/e. She is almost 12 years old, and for the most part has accepted her retirement. Her most noted accomplishments are earning a Dog World Award, being the first Collie to earn the UKC Agility Champion Excellent title, and multiple High Combined awards (all specialty), including the 1998 Collie Club of America National.

Knowing that Pooka wasn't "show" quality, and wanting to start with a strong breed foundation, we went to Highcroft to obtain Teine (pronounced "Chayna", which is Gaelic for fire), also known as U-ACHX, U-CDX Highcroft's Too Hot To Handle, UD, MX, MXJ, NAP, NJP, S-CDX, Can. CD, OAC, NJC, NGC, FMCH, TT, HCT, HIC, n/e. She's had many accomplishments as well, among them being the first Collie to earn the UKC Agility Champion title, and the AKC Open and Excellent standard agility titles. She is also a Dog World Award winner, has earned multiple High In Trials, specialty and all-breed, including the 1996, 1998 and 2001 Collie Club of America Nationals, allowing her to retire the Bill Johnson Memorial trophy.
