General Information:

This Go to the Microsoft Download CenterWebsite has been designed for optimum operation when using the Microsoft Internet Explorer, Version 4 or higher. If you want to upgrade your browser, click the graphic link on the left to go to the Microsoft Download Center:

The server storage space for this Website is provided free of charge by AT&T WorldNet.

We appreciate your comments, questions and critique. If you have a message of general interest to all, please post it on the "Message Board" located at the top of the home page. To send a message specifically to the Webmaster, use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the home page.

Navigating This Website:

The home page has an "Issued:" date in the upper right-hand and the lower right-hand corner that represents the date of the last time the home page was updated. These dates are also clickable yielding the exact time of the last update.

The "Recent Stuff" section on the right side of the home page contains links to recent news items. The most recently added items will be preceded by this graphic - . You've probably already noticed that these text links are highlighted in blue letters that turn red, underlined when the mouse pointer hovers over them. This is true for all internal and external text links on this site.

This site was designed for operating with a screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels, but will work well in other resolutions. If you use higher resolutions, and your eyesight is as bad as the Webmaster's, it may be necessary to increase the displayed text size in your browser.

It is best to use the "Full-Screen" option (the F11 key) when browsing this site - especially for such pages as the "Briant Park Cybertour."

Site Search Feature:

This Web has the ability to Search the site for a match on a particular word or a phrase. The "Help" hyper link provides guidelines for structuring the search - see the non-working sample below.

This input field/go button/search help area is located at the top of the left column on the home page.

After you've entered the criteria, the search engine will scan the Newsletter and return its findings in the following format. Note that there is a grouping for each page on which there is a match for the search word or phrase (i.e. briant park in this case.)

Search Results for the phrase 'briant park'

A summary of the search is displayed with ten finds to the page as illustrated above. Note the links to the Previous or Next page(s) if the search consists of more than ten finds.

The "Site Search" facility will only locate the page which contains a match for the input word or phrase. To find the actual match click to the page and use the "Edit / Find [on This Page]... Ctrl+F" selection on your browser toolbar.

Originally, the search engine that WorldNet used was quite slow. However, recent improvements have speeded up the search considerably.

The ICRA:

The Internet Content Rating Association is an international, independent organization that empowers the public, especially parents, to make informed decisions about electronic media by means of the open and objective labeling of content. ICRA's dual aims are to:

  • protect children from potentially harmful material; and,
  • to protect free speech on the Internet.

The Briant Park Newsletter Website fully cooperates with the objectives of this organization. If you would like more information about the ICRA and how to set up your browser to use the system - .

Site Map vs. Site Chart:

The purpose of a site map or a site chart is to convey the basic architecture of the Website to the new user. The difference is in how it accomplishes this.

  • The Site Map , which is the most common type, depicts the architecture through the use of internal and external, text oriented hyperlinks.

  • The Site Chart is pictorial in nature and as such uses flow charting techniques to illustrate the Website structure. Most of the block elements in the BPN chart are graphic hyperlinks.

In either case, the user is able to not only see the site structure, but also to navigate his/her way around the Website. Try both of these methods and decide which you like better. Then, please advise the Webmaster which display you prefer.
