Your Privacy
We at Briant Park Newsletter (BPN) value our visitors and take great
pride in assuring that their privacy is maintained. With electronic mail,
Internet, and other on-line resources growing exponentially, it is
important that we maintain an environment where our visitors feel
comfortable that the information they provide us will not be misused.
Information We Collect
When you send us a suggested news item or your favorite Website, the
only information we ask for is your e-mail address. It is our guarantee
that:
-
it will not be used for any solicitation purpose
-
and, it will not be given, loaned or sold to any third parties
With the introduction of the Message Board feature, you are asked to
supply a name and an e-mail address. There is, however, no check on the
validity of these entries. As a caution, remember that whatever message
you post can be read by any other visitor to the site.
What About "Cookies"
At this time, the BPN Website
does not use cookies. However, the following is a brief description of
cookies and how they can be used.
Cookies are files put on your hard drive by a Web server. They store
bits of information about your browsing habits which are passed back to
the server each time you revisit the site. Some examples of the
information stored are:
-
when you visited
-
what pages you visited
-
how many times you've visited
-
your password (for their site only)
-
and, at what point you left the Website
This may seem intrusive and an invasion of privacy, but only the
information you provide to that particular site is available. If you visit
a site often, cookies can actually be a convenience. These cookies are
created by programmers to keep track of you in order to help them respond
to you when you revisit their site. For example, Yahoo makes use of this
information so that you can customize what you see when visiting their
site.
Information Disclosure
Will BPN disclose the
information it collects to outside parties? No. BPN does not sell, trade,
or rent your personal information to others.
Privacy In General
There are other things you need to know to guard your privacy when
browsing other Websites. You divulge a certain amount of information
about your computer by merely opening a Website in your browser.
If you fill out and submit forms, order products, or sign up for services,
chances are that you're giving out a bit of personal information. This
isn't necessarily bad, but it would be reassuring to know that the site
doesn't pass along your personal information, wouldn't it? Web sites such
as PrivacyRatings.org check privacy policies and rates sites. Enter a URL
(universal resource locator) in the Check Site's Rating field and click
Submit. The results show what happens with your information.
Future Policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes
on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect,
how we use it, and under what circumstances (if any) we disclose it.
In Summary
We're committed to protecting your privacy. We use the
information we collect on the site to make browsing BPN possible and to
enhance your overall interactive experience. We do not sell, trade, or
rent your personal information to others.
Tell Us What You Think
We welcome your questions and comments about privacy. Please
send e-mail to the BPN staff.
