How to Change Your Screen Resolution

Note: The Briant Park Newsletter assumes no responsibility for problems resulting from using the instructions listed below. If you experience any difficulties, contact your computer vendor / manufacturer for assistance. Most sites are designed to be viewed in 800 by 600 pixels. If you set your resolution lower than that, they may not display properly.
 
To change your resolution in Windows Vista:
1.

Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.

2.

Under Resolution, move the slider to the 800 by 600 pixels resolution, and then click Apply.

 
To change your resolution in Windows XP:
1. From the  Start menu Picture of the Start button, choose  Control Panel. The  Control Panel window will appear.
2. Open the  Appearance and Themes icon.
3. Open the  Display icon. The  Display Properties window will appear.
4. Click the  Settings tab.
5.

Ensure that the  Screen resolution option is set to  800 by 600 pixels.  Note: If it is available, click the  Test button. If the screen appears blank, it will return to normal in 5 to 15 seconds.

Click the  OK button.  Note: You may be prompted to restart your computer. Click the  OK button to restart your computer.

         
To change your resolution in Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000:
  1.

Click on a blank section of the desktop to open the Display Properties window and select the Settings tab.

  2. In the Screen area, use the slide bar to set the resolution to 800 by 600 pixels.
  3. Click the Apply button and then the OK button in the resulting pop-up window.
  4. Click Yes to the question "Do you want to keep the setting?"
  5. Close the Display Properties window.
         
To change your resolution on a Mac:
  1.

From the Apple menu, select Control Panels. You will either have the option Monitors & Sound or Monitors.

  2. If the option is Monitors & Sound:
      a. Open the Monitor icon.
      b.

From the list of available resolutions, select the resolution you wish to use. Your screen resolution will change instantly.

      c. Close the Monitors and Sound window.
  3. If the option is Monitors:
      a. Ensure that the Show pull-down menu option is set to Recommended.
      b.

From the list of available resolutions, select the resolution you wish to use. Your screen resolution will change instantly.

      c. Close the Monitors window.
