So how did 2 people doing fairly well in their careers, living in a nice house, owning nice cars decide to trade that all in for a 24 foot RV and unemployement...... Well, some may call it an early mid-life crisis and others may call it crazy, but Tim and I experienced what I would call an awakening of our priorities. Its a personal feeling that is hard to explain unless you have experienced it for yourself. When it hits, it is very humbling and a bit scary. It forces you to look deep inside and come to terms with who you are and what you are doing with your life. When it hits it doesnt let go, which is a good thing. We recently had close friends and family become seriously ill which caused us to think about our own immortality. At 33 years of age we realized we were working so hard to keep moving up "the ladder" and support the material things we thought were the benefits of success. So what have we accomplished in our personal lives? There is a whole world out there to experience and we both decided that while we are physically able to take advantage of all that life has to offer, we are jumping into this opportunity with both feet. We wrote down short term and long term goals and posted them on our refrigerator. They were in our face and on our mind daily. Because of that, it was amazing the number of goals we were able to accomplish in one years time. This trip being one of those goals. We developed a project plan to help keep us focused and work towards our common goal. We had 13 months to make this happen and we still cant believe how smooth everything has come together. Our initial plan was to tour the USA in 6-7 months. We are now anticipating stretching that out to 1 year +. It all depends on how long the Peanut butter and Jelly and Macaroni and Cheese holds out. At some point in time, we will return to the work force. Location and career choices are yet to be determined. For those of you who know either Tim or myself, any suggestions you may have concerning location and/or career choices are gladly welcomed. We are both very thankful to those people from both our previous employers that have offered us jobs if/when we return thanks for your support! So where do we go from here? We will not be publishing our destinations for security reasons, however we will be making periodic updates to this site outlining the places we have visited. We are very excited to hear from you. Let us know what you think of our WEB page; anything special you would like us to report about; special places you recommend we visit and in general how you are doing. We will try our best to keep our responses current, however we are at the mercy of finding modem connections, so please be patient. We welcome you to Breakfast In America. Tim and Elise Lentz |
