Will of Anthony Sweet # 358:
In the name of God Amen, I Anthony Sweet of the County of Sumner State of Tennessee being of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality. I do make this my last will and testament viz. as follows
1st I give my soul to the great God he who gave it, in hopes of a glorious resurrection through Christ my redeemer.
2nd I now ask all my lawful debts to paid. My body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor.
3rd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah the one half of my tract of land, my horse, one cow and calf two beds and furniture, my stock of hogs all my household possessions the Negro to appendant to her and her heirs forever.
4th I give and bequeath to my step son john Grooms the balance of one half of my tract of land, one cow and calf with all the rest of my estate both personal and real.
5th I acknowledge and appoint my good friend John Shaver of the county of Sumner and State of Tennessee executor for this my last will and testament, witness my hand and seal this first day of May in this year 1825.
