Wild Turkey
WITU like most Chicken-like birds require some luck to find.
Several good locations to search:
- Cottonwood Canyon; Baca County
Wild Turkey can be found while driving into the Canyon from
Baca County Road M. They also wander around the camping
area near dusk (and throughout the day).
- Fox Ranch Nature Conservancy; Yuma County
Approximately 20+ WITU have been hanging around property
for six months to a year or so now!
- Castlewood Canyon Road; Douglas County
Several birds are seen along Castlewood Canyon Road
about a mile south of the State Park.
(Especially where road runs East-West).
- Mt Falcon Park (Denver Mountain Park System); Jefferson County
Wild Turkey have been reported more than two times at
the upper parking area of the park (especially if one
is the first visitor of the day; this is a busy park).
