Piping Plover
PIPL are a protected nesting species in Colorado.
The few nesting locations at Neenoshe Reservoir
and John Martin Reservoir are off limits to visitors.
Sometimes a stray bird can be seen outside of the
restricted areas along the south side of John Martin
Reservoir. Several years, the birds nested on the
islands along the North side of the reservoir and
could be observed from the shoreline.
