Bryan Ehlmann and I setup a scope and created quite a commotion
on the main road into CCK.
We showed about 18 people the Glossy Ibis in the flooded field near the group picnic area.
The GLIB was with approximately 150 White-faced Ibis.
We had to explain to most of the people what an Ibis was.
The remarks were rather humorous. (From "look a baby heron" to
"did the park service bring the birds out here to drink up the water?"

It rained throughout the day; temperatures were around 42 degrees.

Another Birder found the Northern Parula at balloon launch area again today.
I missed it during a two hour search as the rain quicken.

Parula was followed by a Yellow-rumped Warbler. Thanks Norm Lewis for reporting bird!
Northern Parula (male) A second one, 40 feet downstream from Waterton Canyon Bridge
This bird was accompanied by three or four Orange-crowned Warblers
and stayed high up in the trees. Thanks to Joey Kellner for reporting bird!
- Cherry Creek Reservoir:
Glossy Ibis (flooded fields west of 12-mile picnic (group) area.
It was briefly in puddle next to the road.
A scope is necessary now that the whole field is flooded.
Monday there was just a few puddles and 42 Ibis.
Today there was 120+ Ibis scattered across the flooded field.
The 15-minute video I took clearly shows blue and gray facial skin
and red joints on gray-green legs.
The website photo shows the fleshy skin does not extend behind the eye or under the chin.
While the White-faced Ibis photo shows how the facial skin extends behind eye
and under chin (and has white-feathered border).
Among these 120+, Ibis were several immature White-faced Ibis.
These lack the white-feathered border around the facial skin.
They did exhibit the red facial skin that extends further
than the grayish facial skin on a Glossy Ibis.

I stopped at pullover overlooking campground on the way down from summit.
The TTWO was working the dead tree right in front of me.
I later snowshoed Last Dollar Lake Trail for one mile
and heard a TTWO about 0.7 miles up trail.
Pullover is 0.9 miles south of campground and LDLT is 0.3 miles south of campground.
Later I hiked one mile north of campground, but had no further encounters with TTWOs.
There were Pine Grosbeaks everywhere.
Nine in Georgetown, three at pullover, and 6+ at Guanella Campground.
- An hour was spent at Echo Lake, without sighting the TTWO found there last week.

Chatfield Reservoir 4/3
After reading Greg Pasquariello's Sage Sparrow message, I traveled to Chatfield Reservoir.
At 4:00pm I parked at Plum Creek Picnic area and walked to south marina.
On the way back, I walked the gravel road that connects Plum Creek Picnic Area road
with the road to Plum Creek Nature Area.
The two Sage Sparrows were on the asphalt of PC Nature Area.
I followed the two sage sparrows south along the closed gravel road.
When last I left them at 5:15pm, they were near the yellow buried cable warning sign,
just west of shooting range (fenced in area).
Thanks much Greg!
Also observed were dozens of Mountain Bluebirds and two Brewer's Blackbirds.
Around Barr Lake 4/2
It snowed most of the day and I was reluctant to wander outside.
At 4:30pm I decided to see if any Burrowing Owls ventured out in this weather.
At Rocky Mountain Arsenal there were many Western Meadowlarks, no owls!
At Barr Lake the Harris's Sparrow was at the nature center feeders.
While no Burrowing Owls appeared at 1.0 miles east of Picadilly and 120th avenue
(two were here on March 28), Near Picadilly and 120th
there was my first Swainson's Hawk of 1999; sitting atop a telephone pole!
I then went east to Trussville Lane and north to 104th avenue.
The whole trip became worthwhile when two Short-eared Owls were observed on three foot poles.
One 6.1 and another 5.8 miles east of the intersection of 104th and Tower Road.
I then crawled home at 40 mph in the ever increasing snow!
