Gunnison Sage-Grouse

Gunnison Sage-Grouse are diminishing in numbers.
The only public lek is the Waunita Hot Springs Lek.
Morning Visits are best as the GUSG tend to come
to their lek too late in the afternoon to see them
in the dwindling daylight.
- Another good location Houston Gulch Road; Gunnison County
The Department of Wildlife has closed this road to
the public in the past two springs.
- North Slope of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park; Gunnison County
GUSG display at several locations on the North slopes.
Following the dirt roads wandering toward the North slope
can occasionally produce a sighting.
