Greater Roadrunner
GRRO nest in several locations in Southeastern Colorado.
- Cottonwood Canyon; Baca County
Can be observed in the Canyon (calling in the spring).
Also look for them by driving the loop of Cottonwood Canyon;
From CR M & CR 5, drive South and then West;
the road loops around back to CR M & CR 5.
They are also found along the road into Carrizo Creek Picnic Area.
- Picture Canyon; Baca County
I have observed GRRO while driving to the parking area here.
Especially look around the rocky cliffs North of the road.
Several birds have been observed while hiking to the pictographs
3/4 mile South of the parking area. Continue West to cliffs.
