Blue Grouse
BLUG require a little luck to find. Some good locations to search:
- Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park
Drive to the Western End of the self driving car tour along
the South Rim of the National Park. Birds best found at
first or last light as you drive back to other end.
In the summer, females with young will cross the main
road during the middle of the day.
- Mt Falcon Park (Denver Mountain Park System)
From the upper parking area, look below hill to the north.
First light is best before many people visit the park.
- Old McClure Pass Road in Pitkin County
Just before reaching the summit on the north side of the pass,
turn East along gravel road. My favorite technique is to park
near the cattle guard and walk East up the road. Especially
successful at first and last of daylight.
