Hello,
world! |
I do suppose the entries in this section could be justifiably categorized as blogs, yes. These days it seems that pretty much everyone and their dog has one. Well, for the longest time I had tried to resist setting one up for myself; I could certainly appreciate the allure and the excitement that this type of medium affords to the writer as it provides one with the freedom and the instrument with which to express their thoughts, emotions of joy or sadness, feelings of love, jealousy, anger, hate, their deepest fears, their fondest hopes, and so many other things in between whether they be profound or trivial, moral or otherwise.I personally didn't think that it would be something that's right for me, though, simply because:
(a) I'm actually quite reserved and tend to keep to myself when left to my own devices, and so efforts at presenting expressions of opinion and whatnot do not tend to come naturally for me; and...
(b) I like to think that blogs, by their very nature, would at the very least need to have some sort or semblance of regularity when it comes to the frequency of postings to be effective, whether it be daily, weekly, monthly, or some other arbitrary form of scheduling, but I have doubts as to how often I would have the time to really put together something that I would consider be worth posting and even if I eventually do, it leads me to the third and final item...
(c) I'm not sure if anyone would find whatever it is that I'm writing on even remotely interesting, or if visitors to my site would bother to even read this or any other future postings for that matter in the first place. It just seems to me that doing something that no one would even care about would simply amount to one big, awful waste of time.
But in the end, as can be seen by the very existence of this entry that you're reading now, I have decided to go through with it anyway just because even if this little enterprise turns out to have absolutely no audience whatsoever I think that it may, in no small way, help me in crystallizing my ideas, formalizing my thought processes, and sorting out the logic in my arguments regarding whatever it is that I may be talking about at any particular point in time. And if, after all that, it may in addition help in presenting a different point of view to someone else that may happen to be browsing through any of these writings, then perhaps it may not really be such a waste of time after all.
Well, enough with the introductions. I better get started with the main theme for this entry or I'll never get done.
Okay, plot holes. Every once in a while I tend to go out and watch a movie. What I find interesting though is that after what amounts to be a long interval — let's say, a span of several months, or maybe even a year or so after having viewed said movie — I'd just find myself being surprised at what happened during a certain scene that occurs in that movie, and more ofen than not, I'm left with the simplest of questions: why? By the way, I hope everyone realizes that from this point forward, this posting is going to be quite littered with spoilers left and right, and so if there are any movies being talked about below which you haven't seen yet, and are planning to eventually, then it might be a good idea to maybe do away with reading the rest of this posting until such time as the movie in question has been seen and appreciated. In any case, without further ado, below are a few examples of what I'm talking about.

"You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.
You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."- MorpheusThoughts:
I just realized that this scene can very easily be manipulated by Morpheus (if he wanted to) in order to get the end result that he wanted. Okay, say for the sake of argument Neo wimped out just like he did when he was standing at the ledge right at the beginning of the movie. There's a precedent right there, and so one can argue that he could have just as easily gone the other direction and taken the blue pill from Morpheus. So Neo takes a big gulp and voila! he's back in his own little dream world, oblivious to what just had happened to him before that. But here's the rub: since Neo wouldn't remember anything about what happened to him, what's to stop Morpheus from trying the exact same stunt over again? In fact, if he is convinced that Neo really is "The One", and we can see numerous examples of his faith in him regarding this throughout the trilogy, it really wouldn't be too farfetched to think that if Neo had somehow rejected Morpheus the first time, or even the second and third succeeding times, Morpheus could very well simply have kept trying until such time as the odds would have eventually rolled in his favor and Neo finally did decide to take the red pill and joined him.
Remember the scene with The Architect during the last of the trilogies? It showed that Neo's reactions to the same situation in that particular case, repeated numerous times, was not consistent. In fact, it seemed that the odds of him choosing one option over the other was simply dependent on what Neo decided was the proper way to react during that particular instance. Doesn't it follow then that the same situation could have occured during the scene with Morpheus and the blue and red pills? For all we know, Neo could very well have initially rejected Morpheus three or four times before he finally came around to Morpheus' way of thinking after the nth time and accepted his offer.

Jodie's character succeeds in reaching the alien(s)
and manages to get back alive afterwards.
But no one believes her story.
Thoughts:
This one really bugged me. Ellie (Jodie Foster) jumps into this space ship, zooms into outer space via a network of interconnected wormholes, gets to chat with a benevolent alien with a disturbingly familiar appearance, then gets to zoom back home. But because she didn't bring any proof back with her about her experience with said alien life form, no one believes her. Here's my question then: If you (meaning us, the rest of the world) were so skeptical about the entire thing happening, why not just jump into the space ship, take the exact same trip, and see for yourself where it would take you?! The ship is still in one piece, it looked none the worse for wear upon its return, as far as I could tell. Quit bagging on Ellie, accusing her of being a liar, go find some guts to take with you along with a bag of Dramamine to go, and go get the proof yourself.
Just jump on board, stop whining, and fly the silly thing! Gaaah!!!
Okay it's 2:30 in the morning and I've been pretty much in front of the computer writing this entire page for the past several hours now so I guess I'll wrap it up after this next one and then call it a night.C. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry was asking Dumbledore why he (Dumbledore) never warned Harry about the prophecy.
Dumbledore apologized and said that since Harry had already been through so much,
he didn't want to cause him any more pain by revealing to him what the prophecy says is in store for him.
Thoughts:
Wait, wait, hang on a second, back up just one bit...did Dumbledore just admit to knowing the exact nature of the prophecy? I thought the deal with the entire movie revolved around how only the owner of the crystal ball can have access to the prophecy which was why good ole' evil Lord Voldemort — oops, sorry. I meant: He Who Must Not be Named (oooo!!!) — was digging deep into his bag of tricks to figure out a way to pry the secret away from Harry and find out once and for all what all the hush-hush is all about. Were they trying to tell us that Dumbledore actually has backdoor access to all the crystal balls in the room? That he has some sort of hack? A rootkit, maybe? A secret password, a special enchantment that can allow him to figure out other people's prophecies for himself? When no one's looking, does he sneak himself into this room and start peeking at other people's crystal balls and their prophecies, just for kicks? Well, then I don't know about this guy, don't think I'd ever want him around me, if that's the case. Seems nothing more than just a busybody snoop to me. I don't think I'd want him left alone in my bedroom for any significant amount of time, for that matter; he might start rummaging through my drawers and eventually find my stack of...um...
Oh, will you look at the time! It's getting awfully late (or early, in this case). I better go and get some sleep, so I can post this later in the day when I wake up. Have a good day, everyone. Take care of yourselves.
