| The Coolest! Edd Byrnes is one of the first teen idols on TV-- Starring in 77 Sunset Strip (1958-1963). He played Gerald Lloyd Kookson III ( "Kookie"), the cool, hip talking, parking lot attendant. He turned up his collar and had a quirk of combing his hair back when talking sometimes, which teens picked up on right away. He recorded "Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb." Best early, major movie role: Lieutenant Arnold Bittman in Darby's Rangers (1958). |
