Family

Our four children are grown and living their own lives, all in the old country. Three are in the Pacific Northwest and one in Southern California.

Here's a link to a photo of all of us, taken in Seaside, Oregon, July 2000.

Brian relaxing

Brian

Brian is in software development and has suffered the changes endemic in the high-tech industry. He has been in Southern California since June 1998 and is on his third job, now in Thousand Oaks, 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. He was in Carpinteria, some 45 miles farther west and 15 degrees cooler, and about ten miles short of Santa Barbara. He first worked for Pulse Point Communications, now a part of Unisys, in Carp, then for Commission Junction, a dot-com startup company in Santa Barbara, which caved in under him. He now works for Symark, which is a long-established tech company, having been in business since some time in the '80's, a long, long time in the tech world.

He is single and unattached, works hard, body surfs when the conditions are right and time is available, and rides his bike when his "senior-thirties" knees allow.

Here's Brian at the helm of
Cousin Steve's very nice sailboat.

Sue and kids

Susan

Susan is married with two children, Jason and Danika, and lives in Auburn, Washington, near Federal Way, twenty miles south of Seattle. Husband Erik works for Dent Wizard, pulling dents out of cars and trucks, mostly for dealerships.

This picture is from their visit to Sitka in summer 1999, so is a bit dated. See the photo page for more of Sue's summer fun. A picture of Erik is there, too.

Looks like Danika had a hard day.

Brad

Brad and Dina live in Poulsbo, Washington, a pretty little town some 15 miles west of Seattle on the other side of Puget Sound.

After almost nine years as an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers, Dina is now working for the Navy, and doing it in Poulsbo (a mile and a half from home). She's involved in oil spill response planning for the Navy, and misses her 0345 reveille and two-hour commute to the Corps in Seattle terribly.

Brad does commute to Seattle, but has just a two-block walk from the ferry terminal to the offices of the Washington State Ferry System, where he is in the Terminal Design Branch of the Terminal Engineering Office. Since they aren't building any new terminals, he mostly works on inspections, repairs and upgrades of existing ferry slips and terminal buildings. WSF is part of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

Brad and Dina returned to the U.S. in the fall of 2000 after three years with the Corps of Engineers in Germany, living in Wiesbaden and Heidelberg. Brad returned early to job-hunt, so Dina joined some COE friends on a tour of Turkey after her job was wrapped up. Here's a link to her pictures.

On the day after Christmas 2001, Dina gave birth to Abigail RuthEllen Ginn.  See their pictures at Abby's pix

Shari and Mark and family in Cannon Beach

Shari

Shari and Mark live in Kent, Washington, about fifteen miles south of Seattle and fifteen minutes from Sue. They have two children, Madalynn and Robby. Mark manages the Seattle warehouse and office for Northern Sales of Alaska, providing soda and chips and other goodies to most of southeast and some of south central Alaska.
