LSE Plasma II Installation
Installed the Light Speed Plasma II CD Ignition in my RV8. Required about 4 hours to complete. Picked up 7kts and burn less gas!. "Tee" in MAP line is evident. Relay installed and rigged to ignition sw instead of separate switch for system power. Drilling the SS firewall was the most difficult part of installation. Removing the drive gear from the RT mag required a gear puller. Update: Unit experienced problem @ 470m hours in service. Cylinder 1 & 2 ignition channel went weak i.e. 400rpm mag drop during engine run-up. Returned to LSE for repair. Klaus upgraded sw and returned unit. Nothing was wrong with the computer. Problem was shorted coax cables which I replaced along with new high tension spark plug leads. Klaus included Halls backplate to trouble shoot problem but it was not needed. Suspect sharp bend in coax at computer (seen here) eventually caused short. System now up and working 4.0 again.
Plasma II Unit off the firewall
Computer installed inside forward baggage compartment. Built relay using Radio Shack part to enable standard ignition sw to control system.
Halls effect installed in place of RT mag. Green timing light make adjustment easy.
RG cables, coils, harness and plugs installed on top.
