Aviation Aphorsims
Theses are some of my favorites. New candidates are always welcomed. These are best spoken to a group, preferably with an unfocused stare and a soft, measured voice. When done well, one or two well-timed aphorisms can be worth a free cup of coffee....
- Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
- Never let your airplane take you somewhere your brain didn't get to five minutes earlier.
- It’s better to be down here wishing you were up there than up there wishing you were down here.
- Speed is life, altitude is life insurance.
- Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.
- It is best to keep the pointed end going forward as much as possible.
- Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment.
- An airplane may disappoint a good pilot, but it won't surprise him.
