This trip is free and open to the public, but RSVP
(by e-mail only) is required to participate.
Participants will have the following two options:
(1) primitive camping at the ranch on Friday evening;
(2) lodging on your own Friday evening in the Idalia/Bonny area,
then get to the ranch early Saturday morning.
Details on both options will be e-mailed to participants
following e-RSVP for the outing.

These are the rendezvous plans. Please note you can be at either
of the two Denver metro area launching points...
1. Arrive at 6:10 AM at the I-25 and Yale Park N Ride. We leave promptly at 6:15 AM.
2. At 7 AM, we rendezvous with the rest of the flock at Ward and I-70 at the Park N Ride there.
3. At 7:10 AM we leave for Stanley Lake (if anything reported there) or other points in
Broomfield and Boulder County. Likely to hit Stanley Lake, Baseline Reservoir,
Valmont Reservoir from Legion Park (maybe, maybe), and then wrap up at Walden and Sawhill.
We may also hit Boulder Reservoir (if anything reported there). This is an ill planned
and see what comes up kind of trip.
4. Bring sack lunch, beverages and a range of wraps (coats, rain coats, etc...).
Sun block and hats also a good idea.
3. The day wraps up for me at 2 PM, as I will be off to get the boys from school.
No need to RSVP, but do SHOW UP ON TIME. Please be on time, as we will leave promptly.
CAR POOLING AND SHARED GAS COSTS ARE A REQUIREMENT.

Parks Pass required. Meeting place: Heron Overlook, Chatfield Reservoir
After you cross the South Platte River, make a hard left in 0.3 miles into the large parking lot.
At the far right corner, a trail leads down to the Heron Overlook.
"The Big Sit" - an international birding event, has exacting, loose and frivolous standards.
"Big Sitters" count all the birds they see or hear from within a circle with a 17-foot diameter.
Count "Sitters" may send out scouts and beaters to find other birds and identify them as long as a
"Sitter" sees the bird from within the circle. All around the world, on this date people will Big Sit!
Come and join Joey Kellner, and other recruits any time after dawn, for an hour, a morning, or all day.
Drop by whenever you like or volunteer to substitute for "Big Sit" leaders for an hour or two.
(Pre-registration not required) Joey maintains an hourly chart of the birds that "Sitters" see
from the circle. In the past three years he has tallied 55-65 species. Bring chairs, breakfast,
lunch, dinner, picnics, coffee, etc. Bring binoculars, scopes, field guides, etc..

Right (west) off I-25 at Hwy 34 (exit 257B) heading west. Right (north) at first signal light
(Rocky Mountain Avenue) Continue on Rocky Mountain Avenue through FOUR roundabouts.
(Medical Center of the Rockies will be on your right.) Left at the first left turn
after FOURTH roundabout into office complex. Park in parking lot on right side.
Tour will meet on the trail by the bridge in front of you.

They share the Riverfront building and are open 9-6 Tu-Sat
and 11-5 Sun (Nature Center) and 8-4 Tu-Sat (Coffee Den).
