This is a version of the Zeiss 7x50 WWII service glass with smooth oculars.  The oculars or eyepieces have adjustable focus but were intended to be set for one user and rarely adjusted.  On the "Benutzer" or "user" eyepiece cap, attached to the hinge with a rubber cord, it states "Okulare festgestellt, Nicht verdrehen" (oculars fixed, not to be twisted).  The oculars have smooth bodies and have a stiff focus so it is not easy to change focus.  There are desiccant cartridges on the objective end of the body.  The optical coatings have a bluish purple tinge.  On the sample shown, someone, probably a U.S. serviceman, has scratched initials and an ID number.  The markings are light and probably could be removed by repainting but I have not done so.

The smooth ocular 7x50 has good, clean optics with a crisp field stop, but it is unexceptional when compared with, say, the 7x50 with gas mask oculars.  The deep hard eyecups reduce the modest eye relief to even less.
